I am looking for info on the FX model-(assuming it was not all done with CGI) and any info on a kit that may have been available as a garage or prodution version.

Thanks

P

I knew info on this one was hard to come by....but I know someone out there must have some info...any thoughts??

I believe the amphibicopter existed as full size prop and CG model only. There was lots of model work done for the film but it was all miniature sets and buildings, no vehicles. Check out the special edition two disc DVD of A.I., the 'making of' disc has several chapters that go into great detail on how the spfx were done, including many images of the amphibicopter. Its well worth it since no other material about the making of ther film has ever been made available. Teddy rules.

Good topic.

Thanks Pauleysolo

There is some info on the amphibicopter on the DVD, but there are lots of holes in it. I would like this too. Additionally, it would be nice to have information on the pilots' uniform.

Thanks Autoprops, great pics.

I was lucky enough to find a few 1/4 scale (keychain size) talking Teddies. Email me if you are interested.

The full-size is well....the full-size filming model. That's Tim Flattery standing next to it. Tim was the designer on the film and also designed the pod car. He also did Kilmer's Batmobile in Batman Forever. We have mutual alumni friends and film associates.

Not sure of the scale model except that it was on Tim's desk and was made more as a model for full-size build study, not for filming. It was supposed to be CG...although they may have used it in the end. You can also see a Mars rover in the background from Mission to Mars.

I haven't spoken to Tim in many years but maybe someone can contact him directly? I THINK his portfolio is still online. Great guy.

Great site- his designs remind me of another conceptual artist I got to know in the early 90's named Steve Berg- he worked on T2, and Total Recall- (I wrote the Cinefex #42 article for that film) among many other things...

Thanks for the link.

While we are on a roll, does anyone know about the costumes? Specifically, what do the police uniforms and props look like?
