This little gadget was used in the episode Aliens of London to eliminate the members of Unit gathered at 10 Downing Street to discuss the Alien problem.
Here's a pic of the original prop that I took at the Doctor Who exhibition in Brighton, England last year:
I happened to be browsing in Maplin's (UK equivalent to Radio Shack) recently, searching for parts for another project, when I happened to spot the unmistakeable red fliptop from the Slitheen prop. After a quick search around, I managed to locate all the other parts the propmasters had used to make the prop. Score.
The red push button housed under the flip-top activates a flashing red led, powered by a 9 volt battery housed in the main unit. The only part not acquired from Maplin's is aluminium strip across the top of the flip-top. A nice little prop and very affordable.
