Discworld - AMCW build thread BADGE DONE!

Re: Discworld - Angua Von Uberwald build thread HELMET DONE!

Awesome!
I'm assuming you'll be wearing your badge on a collar right? And dont forget to pack a lightweight gown in a handy sachet. ;)

You know I had to pause just now and count how many Pratchett Books I've read... I just cracked the spine on #36, not counting all the ones involving AMCW which I've gone over twice.

Re: Discworld - Angua Von Uberwald build thread HELMET DONE!

I used to be able to keep my Discworld books on one large shelf :lol

Any pics of this being worn? It is a stellar costume

Re: Discworld - Angua Von Uberwald build thread HELMET DONE!

No pics of it on until I attach the straps- still debating how to approach them. X) Once I finish the current run of my Rorschach's Grappling Guns I plan to knock out city watch badges (Mine will be attached to a Leather collar necklace of course! ;) ) It's a very good carrot to get the other run done, I'm dying to get to it. My dad's left his jewler's wax lesson out on one of my benches for me to stare at constantly. XD

Still debating how to get the chainmail rocking! I found this great netting-like material that if I painted it with latex to stiffen it up a bit and then paint silver would work great, but I need to save up for my new sewing machine first!

I'm hoping to finish the costume for Halloween next year, slowly picking away at it as I go. Gotta get those straps attached, I have to give the bust-form back to my friend eventually.... XD

And I need to pick out a suitable blond wig.

My discworld books are sort of in this crazy heap on a shelf. I don't own them all but I'm CLOSE. I realized to my horror I don't own Jingo.... I could have SWORN I did but that might have come during that raiding-the-library phase of mine. :C I do have these great wooden elephant book ends I stole from my grandmother who got them in Africa. She doesn't mind, she's passed away and probably happy they're being used and appreciated. XD Unfortunately my collection has surpassed the amount the book ends can support, so they just sit on TOP of the collection, decorating all the same.

ALSO QUICK QUESTION FOR THOSE DISCWORLD FANS OUT THERE: Are there any other comicbook renditions of the books besides Guards! Guards! and Mort? (I own both of those already) I loves me some comics. At one point I got it in my head to adapt the stage play version of Night Watch by Steven Briggs into a comic myself... I got as far as character design for Vimesy.

Old art is old now, but I may still tackle the project when I have free time, just out of love... even if it's only a chapter or two for the art challenge of it.

Re: Discworld - Angua Von Uberwald build thread HELMET DONE!

Dont have a big bookshelf so all my Pratchett books are two deep on a a couple shelves... you can tell at a glance which books I liked because they are so dog eared. :)

You really need to get to Jingo, it's quintessential Sam Vimes! Or did you read it and just cant find the book. ;)

they did the colour of magic and the light fantastic as well. i have all the graphic novels, books, maps, etc. i also have several figurines that were produced by a company here in the uk called clarecraft, they've shut down now, i also have several coats of arms that they gave to members of the collectors club. i've had the fortune of meeting terry once before and had several items signed, including two frames from the animated version of wyrd sisters that was produced by cosgrove hall back in the late nineties (they were given as gifts to the discworld convention guests back in 98) one of the ramtop mountains and another of nanny oggs armchair. i also have a signed poster from paul kidby of the death family (he does all the hardback covers)

its such a shame that he's slowly losing the battle with alzheimers. i hope we get a good few more books from him in the years to come

the costume is looking great. sadly my books are all packed away at the moment due to space constraints and haven't yet picked up the new tiffany aching one

Re: Discworld - Angua Von Uberwald build thread HELMET DONE!

Dang I need to get that book too.

I hope to meet Terry, it would be awesome if he came to Fan Expo next year.

Re: Discworld - Angua Von Uberwald build thread HELMET DONE!

I found out Terry was in the bookstore for a signing right around the block from me when I was in college like THE DAY AFTER. I was like WHAT. WHAT NO.

I own only one Clarcraft figure my friend gave me for christmas one year- Death of Rats. Since moving I'm not sure where he went to I'll have to dig him up! ;A;

And I've read Jingo I think I just got it from the library at the time. I COULD HAVE SWORN I OWNED IT. Apparently not! ;_;

Still trying to wrap up my other projects, but my badge is next on my list! I have a ton of reference images I saved but if anyone has any more favorite references please feel free to link me up!

Re: Discworld - Angua Von Uberwald build thread HELMET DONE!

In a pinch a thick mesh over shirt painted silver over a darker color or black undergarment will work good for chainmail. That was pertty much our go-to chain mail in stage productios.

Thanks for the tip!! Def. will be keeping my eyes peeled for anything that works. :)

Re: Discworld - Angua Von Uberwald build thread HELMET DONE!

Nice! Thanks! The back cover of the Watch Diary is exactly what I'm looking for! 8)

Re: Discworld - Angua Von Uberwald build thread HELMET DONE!

Hey all! I've been a bit aloof as of late, juggling jobs and private commission work.

Recently had a commission for a set of Angua's armor with alternative helmet design that turned out lovely! The commissioner met Sir Terry at a convention and he was very impressed by my work, I'm so pleased!

ADDITIONALLY I have finished my AMCW badges and have been selling them on DA! Sold about twenty so far, but ready to see if there's interest here to start a Junkyard thread. They are about 3.5" x 3.5", hand cast plastic.

Currently working on Carrot's "protective" and Vimes' Armor and original old-school badge, will be sure to share once those are complete!

Thanks so much!

I'm still tee-heeing I was commissioned by a cosplayer to make Carrot's Codpiece. That'll be um. Fun in my portfolio. XD That's on the agenda for this weekend.

Needs more Discworld props always!

Also debating sculpting up Om turtle necklaces for the fun of it. :) The turtle moves!
