Die Cast Lighted 1/350th TOS Enterprise (TOMY crowd funded)

Same here. I had just set the secondary hull on the stand and noticed an exposed screw hole. As I rummaged through the shipping material I found the plug. Whew.

BTW - I had told my understanding wife I bought this to enjoy for a couple months and would be selling for a profit. Now that I have it, I’m not keen on selling it!!! “Out of my cold, dead hands!”
Wow! I would never make a promise like that!

Somewhere in this thread someone posted a Prestige Harvester combine they did that was arguably bigger.

The PR on this project was horrible. Its not just it was US only. They Crowdfunded on their own site, so no one came to know about it simply because they were on a major crowdfunding platform. (MST3K S14 is running now on their own site, and while its ticking along, it would probably be funded by onow on a big platform- getting the word out is key. ) I know of only one interview they did with a "you tube influencer", they didn't reveal or pitch this at comic con - or even a Trek specific convention that I know of. I believe they did just the one show in Chicago. And they advertised on Facebook of all places ( that worked to find me.. but if I hadn't seen the TOMY and known who they were I would have skipped over it as a scam) I don't think it was lack of interest, it was lack of reach to the people would would have been interested. Which is why you see the ones selling on ebay for between 1200-1400 on average. If the market had been saturated, people would be sitting there with thier own , and 1-2 others unable to sell them. If TOMY had set up interviews with all of the bigger adult Toy collector channels, or entertainment channels like Nerdrotic, revealed the thing at Comic-con SD, paid for commercials to run during streamed episodes of TOS, directly contacted Mods at the more prominent Star Trek Forums and groups, and so forth... they would have reached that 5000 goal and more.
I agree. I found out on YouTube, I believe! I only knew they were legit because I bought TOMY Pocket Cars back in my childhood, when they were sold alongside Hot Wheels in the US. So I knew it would be a quality piece. Also, my dad was a die-cast toy dealer for years, and used to go out to Dyersville, Iowa often.

I don't want them to leave TOS yet, once they do they are never turning back I'm certain.
Maybe but what else can they do from the TOS that would engage the fan community? Klingon ship? Romulan BOP? Galileo Shuttlecraft? And then what else?

I could see the Klingon ship being somewhat popular and maybe the Galileo? But even then, I would think they would find it hard pressed to find backers for either. The fanbase for the TOS is older and not as many, while the younger people are all Next Generation and beyond.

I would love a Galileo and Klingon ship but I tend to think that is in the minority of thinking....but I think the next ship is gonna be the REFIT and the D next. I think Chris and the gang need to make a REALLY STRONG statement with their next ST project if these line of diecast ships are going to continue.

Happy Halloween from the U.S.S. Enterprise.

The Klingon D7 is of no interest to me. For me, it pales in comparison to the original Enterprise. When compared to the Refit.....forget about it! It's the Refit for me!
The refit in 1:350 scale is already available to people who want them. The D7 is not. To me it's a matter of getting a model that's not available vs. getting another iteration of a readily available model.

you don't need spock's brain to figure out that the passion for a refit seems to burn the hottest 'round these parts (i mean, boba for one is clearly ready & willing to sacrifice his very virtue on the Aztec-ing altar)

It's only fair -- we've been in line a couple-few decades longer than the Wesley Crusher groupies.

it WOULD be kewl as hell to get TOS klingon and romulan ships tho (and i would think at a cheaper price point, with so little detailing and electronics), but at the rate my cholesterol is climbing, i'm'a need to see that refit first so i can cross it off the bucket.

LOL!

Granted the REFIT is available but not prebuilt. For people who don't have the skill or time to build a Refit TOMY really is the best option especially at the possible low prices that they can offer.

I would love a D7 as well but I don't know if the backing would be there...at least at the numbers TOMY needs to produce these ships.

i just scoped ebay and a pre-built lit refit hasn't been available in however long the "sold listings" feature goes back-- 90 days? 180?

i would think the rock bottom price would be 2.5K on something like that, all the way up to 20K for pro-builds.

so yeah i wouldn't call a lit 1:350 refit readily available, by any means.

times like this i wish i were good at stuff, tho. looks like you can buy a polar lights w light kit for $350, and if you can actually build the gorndamn thing, turn around & sell it for $3500.

Not sure, I mean I don't think I'm too different from other fans I'd buy anything TOS from them, but a D7 could be cheaper, not nearly as complicated even if they light the windows, same for Romulan. Shuttlecraft would probably be as expensive as the Enterprise I think, more risk at funding, because you know they would light everything and go for the full interior. One more from TOS is all hope for if this is going to be a thing every two years.

For all the angst over this ship and it's imperfections people want them! : ) 26 bids and counting.

Makes me happy but I hope the people at TOMY know that their final product made many people happy.

Many other auctions going to with all bids well over a grand now!

If man were meant to fly … ;)

I used the old school hot glue stick method to pull the little front grille piece off the HT Delorean to do some electrical mods. I might try that on one of the starboard side plugs when I eventually give in to the foolish need to automate everything. That side is not fit to display anyway (for me, it’s the Mirror Mirror no-filming side). Now, if Tomy would offer a plug replacement kit for sale after the warranty expires …
I don’t suppose you have some more information on this? I blew a fuse in my Hot Toys Delorean and need to get in there to replace it.

The last "buy it now" ship just sold tonight for $1700. There are no more ships left for instant purchase. Everything on the auction block right now will sell for roughly $1500.

once supply dries up, a month maybe, this ship starts at 1700+.

I would not be surprised.
