Die Cast Lighted 1/350th TOS Enterprise (TOMY crowd funded)

Hoping all those light leaks are solved, and that panel separation on the port nacelle strut made invisible.
Would also like the neck separation line to be much less noticeable.they said that all
I think those light leaks and visible panels lines …neck separation…will be resolved by the time this goes into production. They’ve been emphasizing that what they’ve been showcasing have been prototypes so I am quite sure all problems will be taken of by the time they ship.

I saw a version of this up close and personal at Fan Expo Chicago yesterday. It looks impressive, and I was surprised that they included the saucer separation in this version of the enterprise. I am also really surprised to find this thread here as they said they were not really advertising except for their own site. So, this is cool! While they stated it was only about 50% funded and hoped to reach their goal by the end of the month I am sure they will. Honestly, I do have some concerns about the lighting, power, and charging system they will use as they did not have answers for those at the convention. This is probably where the "IoT" people here could help them out a bit.

Wondering about the hanger door, will there be a closed and open piece to change out? One plus of being diecast, I bet that will help silence motor noises if they are not using stepper motors.
Actually, this is supposed to be quiet and work with a touchpad switch. The bay doors are connected to servos. At least, that is what they explained this weekend.

Were they using actual motors or just circulating LEDs in the nacelles?

A motor for the spinning and there was a speed control for the motor also on a touch sensor on/off/slow/fast. They couldn’t really explain their electronics setup and that made me a little nervous about ordering.

Yeh I'm alittle worried about that also...but at least they're using motors. Thanks for confirming!

Yup correct. Where did 1302 come from?
1302 is the customer ID they assigned to me. The order number is typically used for the backer/customer ID in these sort of crowdfund campaigns so I just assumed they were up to 1302 orders when I placed mine. Don't forget there are several people who ordered more than one so that may account for the difference between backers and actual orders.

Aaaahhh thank you for the clarification!!

Yeah as well as them themselves saying they are only advertising in one place. Odd business model. A little worried?
I’m worried. I work in advertising…AD…and their marketing seems so counterproductive.

It’s like they don’t want to sell this replica!

Does Tomy have 2 different goals that they are trying to reach?

Attention: 2,500 backers are needed by July 24 for the project to move to forward. Credit cards will be charged on July 25 ONLY if we reach 2,500.
vs
$ 1,500,000.00 USD Goal

Here are the current numbers from the web site.
  • $824,226.00 raised
  • 54.95% funded of $ 1,500,000.00 Goal
  • 1234 backers
1234 backers is only 49.36% of the 2500 goal.

I am assuming that the 1234 backers is the number unique people backing the project and not the number of units funded (e.g., 1376 = 824226/599) or the number of rewards funded (1258 = 1167 + 64 + 27)

My guess is that only the 1,500,000 Goal is the target and not 2500 backers.

1,500,000/599 = 2504.
