Die Cast Lighted 1/350th TOS Enterprise (TOMY crowd funded)

That actually makes sense. Shame to cannibalize them like that.
I'd imagine it wouldn't take but a hot minute with a screwdriver kit and a box of spare bits and bobs to fix nearly all defective parts and put them back in the donor box, resell the unit as open box. it would be bonkers to toss the faulty bits.

I know this is a TOMY Trek thread but and this isn't TREK but I would love to see this some day from TOMY:

My uncle made me fall me in love with this ship. And I think this would be perfect in diecast. Would it sell? Not sure what demand there would be for it but no one else is selling this prebuilt with electronics, so TOMY would corner this market for sure.

Speaking of, would you rather have that beauty or an animatronic, remote-controlled Robot (Model B-9)?

I picked up these LED lights on Amazon for $35. Four of them fit nicely in the crooks of the base. This pic looks a little blown out but it’s super cool in person. I can change the colors of the lights as well as the intensity.
Can you please post a link to the lights? Thanks.

Granted the REFIT is available but not prebuilt. For people who don't have the skill or time to build a Refit TOMY really is the best option especially at the possible low prices that they can offer.
The paint job alone would probably cost more than a D7 model.

I would love a D7 as well but I don't know if the backing would be there...at least at the numbers TOMY needs to produce these ships.
The way people are crying about seams and plugs I doubt we'll see any more Enterprise models from TOMY.

Oh yeah the REFIT would definitely be more expensive than the TOS OR D7. I’d be shocked if it wasn’t. I’d expect about 900-1200 depending on the number of backers they are looking for.

As for whether TOMY will make more, I hope you are wrong. Plus for all the complaints there are plenty giving the ship great reviews on YouTube and FB As well as on this forum. I think many have come to believe the screw holes and seams were greatly overblown. Many regret canceling based on comments I’ve read. But only time will tell. But I want to be positive and hopeful.

Yeah I would definitely be in for a J2. It's only two halves so there is no way they could mess up the seams. Moebius models did a pre-built all metal version of their kit about 16 years ago. If was like $1100. I should have bought it. I never saw them up for auction. I don't think they made very many. Maybe 1000 at most.

I found out that Moebius years later. Never knew it was released. Any idea if it was any good?

I actually think TOMY might do a better job. Huge die cast J2 would be sweet.

If crying = expressing sincere disappointment that they didn’t deliver what was explicitly promised - then guilty as charged.
