Did the Anduril LE have a jewel in it?

When you say "jewel" I assume that you are referring to the gold/black "sun" dot.

Originally the gold dot was only on the LE and the UE (unlimited edition) had a black dot, but it turned out that the black dot was apparently a mistake and most of the UEs ended up with gold dots as well. I have two UEs, one with a gold dot and one with a black dot.

The differences between the LE and UE are:

1) The LE came with a more ornate plaque.

2) The decorative holes inside the ends of the hilt and end of pommel have 24 karat gold plated fittings, the UE has the gold as well, but not 24 karat.

3) The lettering on the pommel is gold on the LE and plain on the UE.

Strangely, IIRC the pommel gold lettering on the LE version is not screen accurate, but was based on a version of Anduril that Aragorn is holding in one of the movie or promotional posters.

cool - so it was only ever painted? For some reason I thought some versions had an amber jewel in there - maybe I was just remembering a knockoff I once saw...

Just paint. I guess depending on lighting and/or viewing angle it could look like something is in there, but United Cutlery never made a version with a stone (and the actual prop didn't have one either).

Man I wish that order would have gone right... I ordered one for my wife for x-mas... I think its the best sword in the LOTR triliogy.

I'm just being curious... How difficult would it be to put a stone there? Is the "dot" removable in any way?
A real "citric amethyst" in a half-sphere shape should costs only $2-3 USD.
