Did anyone ever do data crystals from Babylon 5?

I have been getting my nerd on this last week (disconnected sat due to just nothing on tv, been marathoning B5).

I remember the PPG being made, and I remember some links being done, and I think Matt did a Psicorp card or keypass or something, but I don't remember the data crystals ever being made.

Any chance someone got one of the screen used ones when they were selling off props from the show? There isn't really any great episode (so far) that I can find for getting the details of those little things.

Hmm.. Might have a new project in the works for later in the year.

If someone has some screencaps or other ref material, or can just name some episode numbers that feature good close ups, I can cap em on the dvds I have.

These are kinda tiny compared to the Superman crystals I did, but I have a feeling that one of my companies could swing it....

I actually own one the two "hero" data crystals used on the show. It is not actually made of crystal, but acrylic. The funny thing is that the data crystal prop actually started life as an vintage earring, kinda funny when you think about it.:lol

I had a feeling they were acrylic but had no idea about the earring :lol

I was thinking maybe a christmas ornament or even a light pull, but never jewelry.

Any chance I can get some measurements from you on it or some 360 degree pics (along with top/bottom shots?)

I am about 95% sure they can make em, or at least a stylized version (that little curved bottom might cause trouble). All we need now is someone to make the readers!

There's not really anything specific about them is there? Couldn't you just use any similarly shaped piece of quartz?

That's pretty true of anything though.

If I want to make em out of crystal (which I do), I want them to be pretty accurate. I could cut em out of acrylic pretty easy, but wheres the fun in holding a piece of plastic?

I have superman crystals in resin, and it would have been a lot cheaper to cast my SR run in clear resin, but it wouldn't feel the same. If crystal is an option, I just want to go that route

So far though, every crystal I have seen (going through disc 2 of season 1) has matched up to the "hero" one up there. When/if this gets done, it's gonna be pretty cool (to me anyway )

You are right, all the data crystals used on the show were of the same shape and size. They did use a different shaped data crystal in the movie "Legend of the Rangers", but the series used data crystals all the same shape and size. They did have some that were clear resin and tinted them with different colors for certain episodes, but the two "hero" crystals were used for the close ups. I will be getting you some good measurements and some other pictures in the next day or two. I think it would be kinda cool to have one or two made out of crystal too.

If you don't mind me "borrowing" it and recasting it, I can send those castings to the factory and have them make 1:1 copies (minus the earring hole )
