DEXTER KILLED ME - PHOTO CONTEST - Winner Announced!!!

Re: DEXTER KILLED ME - PHOTO CONTEST - Win Prop Replicas from Dexter!

Hello everyone:
This is our contribution to the contest. Our little baby girl (María) learning to channel his litte dark passenger with help from his friend "Cedito" (Pig in English).
Although not easily distinguished, since we have this pajama (greenish brown) we called the killing pajama.
Whether or not worthy of winning the contest I hope that at least it'll make you laugh as much as it has done with us.
Warning:
No plush animal has been hurt in this scene.
María will take a long time to understand this because she will not see Dexter until many years. I hope she do not hold us a grudge.

Scene: Dexter has been called to a house in the suburbs. A landlord called into one of his properties to inspect it and discovered this scene. The thing that has the team puzzled is that the victim is only missing one leg, but there are several limbs scattered around the room. Where are the other victims?

How I made it: I covered my conservatory in news paper. I have a table with a large opening in it so I cut a hole in a sheet and placed it over it the table. I put make-up on my "victim" and laid her on the table with her leg hanging down through the hole. I packed raw minced meat against her knee cap and the stuck a piece of a stick which I painted white into the meat for a bone. I made a blood substitute using, hair gel, chocolate sauce and red food dye and smeared it over the meat.Threw some plastic limbs I had lying around from a film shoot on the ground. Then I got a spoon and began splatering the blood all over the walls. Most fun I've had in ages! :D

Our submission, titled Dinner for One, is about a murder in progress committed by a killer Dexter would target.

Scene:
There's a new killer in Miami, dubbed by media outlets as "The Culinary Cannibal".
He has already struck three times. His targeting of victims seems to revolve around inviting guests under false pretenses however abduction still seems to be a possible method as well. These murders are gruesome as the killer not only cuts up and mutilates the bodies but then proceeds to dress them up as lavish banquets, each time with a different theme. It is not yet known if he actually eats his victims but evidence and lab work from prior scenes seem to support this theory.

Needless to say he is in Dexter's crosshairs.

How we did it:
At my friend's house we took his dining room table and took the center section out then covered it with an old shower curtain. We cut a hole in the center of the curtain then did the same with a disposable plate. We then got some prop body parts, some utensils, knives, plates, candles and a hacksaw and set up a basic dinner setup and covered it in prop blood. We then took one of my old duct tape mannequins (which was missing a head), put on it an old sweater and covered it in blood then stuck a severed hand prop upside down to make it look like the head was cut off from the neck. Finally we got my friends brother and stuck his head up through the hole and stuck an apple in his mouth simulating the severed head. Finally the wine glass (or was it blood?) was just some chocolate powder mixed with water and red food dye. As for the killer we gave him a chef apron and set him down for dinner.

As for photo features we dimmed the interior lighting and went for a darker redish/orange look to give it a fancy banquet hall or high class dinner party feel by playing with the camera's exposure and iso levels.

Loving all of these! Very creative with the tables and severed body parts. :)

I took this picture at a Horror convention. Dexter lays his victims on the "kill table" , pretend slices their face and puts the fake blood on a bloodslide then kills them. The fans love this. He keeps busy all day. Nobody actually gets hurt in any way.
This all started because I have been watching Dexter since day one and my husband then started paying attention from across the room. It wasn't long after that he was on the couch with me each episode. Then he wanted to start from episode one and learn all about Dexter. People were telling him he looked similar to Dexter and he can do the voice. He has since then began to collect everything Dexter . His collection grows and grows. He has several costumes , tools and props. We have a lot of fun costuming.

Entry: The Gig is Up

1) Story
Being a forensic blood spatter analyst, Dexter is used to gruesome murder scenes. After all, that’s what he does in his free time. But there is always a reason for Dexter’s violence, a code that he follows. This is not the case with the two serial killers that he has been tracking in his backyard of Miami Florida. He has seen what these two psychopaths are capable of. He was called to one murder scene where there were twelve people gruesomely tortured, stabbed, beheaded, and then set on fire in a remote warehouse. They didn't deserve this type of death. They were innocent. What bothered Dexter even more was the fact that this wasn't the only incident. There were more and more grisly scenes just like this popping up all over Miami. They had to be stopped.

The Miami-Metro Police Department didn't have much information to go off. The only “information” they had was given to them by an old homeless man outside one of the crime scenes. The man said that there were two men that entered the warehouse. They were driving a long black Chevy Impala that had a bunch of weapons in the trunk. “They were definitely serial killers!,” the man exclaimed to the police officer taking the report. Armed with this information Dexter started hunting for this Chevy Impala. He searched for weeks before finally finding the Impala outside a local 7-Eleven gas station. Something was wrong…There was only one person with the Impala. Where was the man’s accomplice?

Dexter follows the Impala to where he hopes the man’s partner in crime is hiding. For 30 minutes Dexter follows the Impala without incident. Then, without notice, it swerved onto a back road and slams on the brakes. The Driver is on his cell phone. Dexter can’t know who, but he suspects it’s the man’s partner. Suddenly the man in the Impala whips his head around and looks Dexter dead in the eyes. This is it. Without missing a step Dexter exits his car and approaches the man asking if he knows the directions to the nearest gas station. This buys Dexter time. In one sweeping motion Dexter pulls his knife and stabs the man in the chest before he can react. The man slumps the ground with a thud. “One down, one to go.” Dexter mutters to himself. Curious to see what these traveling serial killers had in their trunk, Dexter pops the trunk. This was the right Impala… These guys had guns, knives, gasoline, and even a grenade launcher. Dexter quickly kneels down to move the man into the trunk when a car’s headlights flash behind him. Is this the other man’s partner that he was talking to on the cell phone?

2) Creation
I created this photo by using my 1967 Supernatural Impala. Making this Impala took three years and a lot of hard work. You can view the restoration process HERE (http://www.therpf.com/f9/supernatural-replica-hunter-1967-impala-finished-138218/) This Impala had all the props and weapons that I needed for this story so it worked out well. I also made the fake blood for the knife wound. My Dad was the victim and my mom ran the camera. Thanks Mom and DAD! The rest of the picture is kind of self-explanatory.

Story:

Earl and Warren were inspired by the Bay Harbor Butcher. Though not as fastidious as their muse, it seems that deranged minds think alike; from their method of seduction to the means of bondage. Let’s not forget the trophies they keep, those precious 1” x 3” fragments of glass.

They revel in their fame in the Miami Star as their conquests grow. More frequently they bring victims to their torture shop... but will the real Bay Harbor Butcher let these Copycat Killers continue?

How:

The full process is documented here, as well as a quick story about a random passer-by. The set is a recently vacated auto-body shop. I brought all the tools, props, and tables. I chose the high vantage point to provide depth and showcase the sheer amount of stuff. I wanted it to feel like a real shop. My goal is for the viewer to notice a new detail every time they look, with the items serving to create a backstory for the characters. Details included are “Miami Star” newspapers documenting the Copycat Killers, blood slides and box, Ice Truck Killer doll, Shaun of the Dead blood splattered shirt and cricket paddle, prop dynamite, an enema plush toy, various power tools, many hand tools, more than thirty knives, two handguns, female undergarments, a cooler, lots of saran wrap, fake blood, and much, much more.

Re: DEXTER KILLED ME - PHOTO CONTEST - Win Prop Replicas from Dexter!

This is my entry and also my first post on RPF:)

Head Boy

A new killer has been stalking the privileged youth of Miami, he kills without remorse and leaves only the head behind... Apprehended by Debra fleeing the scene of his latest murder, the killer dubbed Head Boy by the media, smirks his way through interrogation represented by one of the most expensive lawyers Miami has to offer, he is released to the care of his smug, almost mocking parents, forensic evidence is minimal and it is likely that Head Boy will not be charged, but Dexter knows the truth, he feels it and his Dark Passenger agrees. After the kill Dexter feels it only just that Head Boy’s parents should feel the same horror of their son’s victim’s parent’s so in a twist on his usual disposal he leaves the head behind...

How?

I life cast a friend, made a clay pour and from that made a mould from Crystalcal R. The head itself was made from gelatine and filled with PU foam, the neck end was topped off with some red tinted gelatine for the mushy bits, and I punched eyelashes and added a wig. On the day plastic sheeting was laid down, fake blood splashed around and the head placed, the picture was taken on my mobile phone.

This is my entry :) IMG_5224.JPG

Back Story- (keep in mind I have only watched up to the third season so far, I just got addicted to the show!)
Dexters Dark Passenger has turned on him and has made him feel regret and remorse for what he has done. He knows that it was just justice being served, but when he thinks back on the lives he took the feeling of guilt overwhelms him. He has one last killer victim in mind, himself. In keeping with the ritual he hangs up pictures of his victims and places his slide box on the table with candles lit in memory of those lives he has taken. There is space for one more set of slides...his own.

I found screenshots of his victims and printed them out. I then hung a clear shower curtain on the wall and draped it over the bed. I also didn't have time or money to get a slide box since I just found out about the contest this morning so I found a picture of it online and printed it, then folded it to look boxlike. Since it was going to be in the background and blurred I figured it didn't have to be perfect. I printed a badge and used plastic to fold over it to look laminated and taped it on the back and strung a silver necklace through it. I then mixed strawberry syrup and chocolate syrup for the blood for the gash on his cheek. I then got a pregnancy test for a dollar and took the little dropper out to use as the dropper. I hope you like my entry, my husband and I had fun making it!

I have pics of my last minute setup here :) https://www.facebook.com/2008momof3/media_set?set=a.10200614395457184.1073741833.1078661880&type=3
