Destiny (Video Game) Discussion

That's what I've been saying is at least make an option for matchmaking. The third party apps are annoying and if a couple of people were able to implement something like that, then why is it so much to ask to integrate a simple matchmaking option for coop fireteam missions who don't have the time? What's the difference between them making a mission that auto-matchmakes vs. a mission they feel you should find your own team with?

I think it's pretty widely agreed that the matchmaking issue is the game's biggest failure. The way it is implemented is horrible, and the lack of optional matchmaking for end game activities is unacceptable.

As far as I know though none of the campaign is meant to be cooperative. It's all soloable.

Watch in pain or enjoyment. I dismantled my character's everything, deleted my character, and then uninstalled the game last night. I can't do it anymore (edited down for load times and speeding through process).

Oddly enough not 1 hour after I did that, I saw this article come from Polygon about Destiny:
http://www.polygon.com/2015/10/5/9457851/destiny-microtransactions-emotes-tess-everis

I imagine this will only be the beginning to what will probably be a whole ton of micro-transaction vendors to buy stuff you don't want to work for. It's sad, but it was time to bail. I'm cutting my losses and moving on. It was fun!

Looks like I got out when the getting was good. I can see micro-transactions to help pay to upgrade the servers and but this is also going to open the door to them selling access to other items that you'd normally have to work for. Sadly I guarantee none of this money is going to go to improve the servers or any of the other issues.

I'm not going to speculate. I'm having fun now. I quit once before so no biggie. They say that nothing that effects the game will need to be bought meh. If it does it does, I'll play till it's not fun .

Anyone still playing? I just got TTK and am slowly back grinding to get where I need to go. The game feels so dead and empty to be honestly. I'm not sure if everyone is on the Dreadnaught but the tower and other places are all so empty all the time. The other night there were 5 people in the tower at most.

It's not what it used to be. Last really good time I had was November Iron Banner. I still haven't finished Kings Fall. Motivation for raiding isn't there for me like year 1. Year 1 raid loot was great. Spent a lot of time on LFG trying to get in VOG chasing stuff like Fatebringer and it was great. I hope Bungie can put together the things they got right in year 1 and 2 make the game great again. I've been really casual about playing since TTK has come out.

I still play everyday. I'm only light level 313 but still having some fun. I don't raid but have gotten into Trials and Iron Banner. Etc. at first I hated pvp but it seems to be my go to when I want something different.

The game is so empty compared to a year ago no matter where I go. I doubt I'll ever max out as I'm not going to kill myself in events I hate to get a level 320 ghost for each character. That's my one complaint: they make it so frustrating to get items to max your light level. I'll play IB when it goes back to being control, until then i'll just hop into crucible. I am going to be grinding the level 28 prison level for strange coins for every weekend when xur is around. Getting monte carlo with a free engram was a good sign, in under a week i've gotten 4 exotics from engram drops (3 thanks to the 3 of coins). Sadly no primary drops, it's been armor or a sniper rifle i have no use for. The sad thing is the class exotics that i got in the special edition of TTK are crap. They're lower light level than half the year one items. I'm just glad that my Ghorn is still effective against level 40 enemies. Most of my clan is MIA sadly so if i do events that need more than one person i'm screwed.

Hi, my name is Elliott. My total playtime (not including the hours I spent in the beta) clock in at around 586 hours (24d 10h 13m 40s according to Destiny Tracker, but it can't always be trusted.)

I've been off Destiny now for around 2 months? And to be honest I'm not missing it.

The raid was something that became less and less fun over time (particularly more so as more and more people started "you must have this emblem, have completed it at least this many times, if you wipe you're kicked").

That combined with the fact that it was something that really relied very little on skill as the whole thing was just an extremely mechanical procedure (1 on, 2 on, 3 on, got the buff, everyone on the towers, fire at Oryx, run round posts) where as Vault of Glass (and even Prison of elders) was a good mixture of crowd control, co-operation and role assignment.

I'm interested to see where they go from here but the shift towards smaller 'paid cosmetic' events rather than substantial DLC (i.e. new maps like European Deadzone, new raids, new weekly activities.etc) isn't likely to pull me back in.

That said, we've just had a management change, so we could see a change in tack for the games future.

For the moment though though, finally got round to playing Dishonored (Remastered edition), done with Fallout 4 until console mods are an option and spent a chunk of the weekend playing The Division beta. The shooting aspect of is notably less satisfying, but the social was notably more appealing than PVP in Destiny has been so it's swings and roundabouts.

The funny thing about IB this time is I was opposed to Rift. But after playing it... it's not that bad.

I still play Destiny weekly when time allows. Did IB this time with my Warlock (my lowest level character) and got 305 boots and 310 Ghost, but most everything else is sub 290 light level. :(
Still, kind of enjoying it. After playing Call Of Duty Black ops 3... I forgot how much I hate PvP in COD. Really frustrating at times.
Playing Destiny after playing COD is like coming home. :)

I agree with the lack of motivation to do Kings Fall. I did VOG and even Crota many times. But I've
NEVER actually played Kings Fall completely. I've done the end twice, and the beginning once, but
still haven't done the middle of the raid. :) Which also means I'll never get the Touch of Malice Exotic.

Played The Division Beta for several days. Similar to Destiny, but quite different too.

The gunplay in Destiny is immensely satisfying, more so than any FPS I've played in a long time but the balancing in PVP is always iffy at best and slanted at worst.

Anyway, from internal talk it seems that Destiny have shifted more than half their development team on to Destiny 2 which is looking like a late 2017 release date.

I'll probably be back long for the ride on its release, I have gotten a lot of enjoyment out of the game as a whole but having it on previous generation consoles has held back the scale of it dramatically and the initial game was plagued with issues during development (firing the entire writing team, rewriting and pasting the game back together within a year).

2 shouldn't be plagued by the same issues.

Sadly the problems of Destiny will plague Destiny 2 as people are going to be leery of it and not preorder as much. It sounds like even the gaming media are setting their expectations low for Destiny 2 already as well as the streamers who are the resident Bungie butt kissers.

I'm such a casual Destiny player. I'm lvl 40 and have never done a big raid or anything hahahaha. I haven't played since before Christmas, but I know my gear isn't all that great. I've done the story mode up and into the Taken King(not that far into it really), but I've never done any of the raids where you go finish off the boss enemy for each planet either. I would get sick of waiting for team mates to join and leave the queue.

I can't stand how hard it is for exotics to drop for your class....biggest complaint I have.

I'll probably not even do a raid any time soon. Yeah they screwed up the drop tables just like they did the IB matchmaking. It's like most of bungie is now college grads who haven't worked on huge games before. I'm annoyed that they made a mission that you can only get if you refer a friend to the game. I don't know anyone who wants to play it with all this bad press that isn't already playing it.

I've been curious, off and on, about playing this game, but it just sounded kinda...I dunno...too much like an MMO. Not enough single player content, too much focus on getting "leet gear" and whatnot, and a huuuuuge emphasis on "raids" which, frankly, I just don't have the patient for or interest in in any game.

It looks really cool, but for me at least, the underlying concept of it holds zero appeal beyond the single player experience. I'd enjoy doing single player and co-op a la Borderlands with friends, but even that's kind of a pain to coordinate. And I'm DONE with PUGs.

I normally am not a social gamer, but Vault of Glass in year 1 was one of the coolest things ever in a game. It was so good, I tolerated devoting half an hour on LFG sites to get into a team just to play it. The loot was great too. I still love doing VoG, it's some of the best game design I've ever experienced.

The problem is Bungie doesn't know what the hell they want it to be. If it was a normal MMO they'd not have half these complaints because half the issues would be gone, if they treated it like a normal pvp setup for that half the game they'd have no issues but they're just halfassing everything at this point and even the streamers who they invite to do stuff at the company are turning against them.

The thing is, I keep seeing it for, like, $30 on Amazon, and it strikes me as a good deal IF I'd enjoy the single player part of the game. But if that's minimal, or a crapload of content is "raid content," that stuff is basically a waste for me.
