Destiny (Video Game) Discussion

I play late night on the weekends with a group of guys fairly regularly. GT is Reklis Abandon. I don't know what you need to accomplish but I'm sure I or our group can help :) We do raids, Nightfalls, PoE runs, whatever you want or need.

Basically, the progression system for the game is as follows
Levels 1-20 - Do the story missions. If you come up short, either do PVP (Crucible) or patrols and bounties till you hit 20.
Levels 20-?? - Do the strike playlist. You'll get blue gear with light in them that will bring you close to end game content. As you're doing the strikes you'll also earn reputation with the vanguard and marks to purchase the vanguard legendary gear. This will get you to level 32 I think.
32-34 - Prison of Elders - There isn't matchmaking for these activities. Doing the 32+ will get you an armor piece from Variks each week. Level 34 and above will get you etheric light that will allow you to upgrade an existing legendary piece to the 34 equivalent.

The only way to get DestinyLFG to work is as follows.

Search for the content you want. When you see a new group pop up, send that person a message asking to join (with your class/level) through the smartphone app (this is so much faster than trying to type using the controller). If they're not full, they'll send you an invite.

The other option is to post your own group and then people will ask you for invites.

I'm holding off on TTK for a bit as there's other games out there and I'm not all that impressed with Destiny anymore. I'm even less impressed that the physical special edition was gamestop only. I run with a clan as I've seen the horror stories with the LFG sites. I have been doing the weekly mission for strange coins with randoms but the Omnigal mission is one that takes a team that communicates.

I've run Omnigul with a matchmaking team a bunch of times and you don't have to have communications via mic. Just know that when she screams, run back into the cooridor because that's when the respawn happens and then you work your way in again and pummel Omnigul with shots and then repeat.

I have a real hard time with the invite accepting because the XBox One version seems to be really broken. Unless maybe I'm supposed to be doing something different? I have read a ton of stuff on what settings to use and all that. I'm public and open, but no invites every become visible and the JOIN part is all greyed out!

I actually uninstalled it tonight, I'll eventually get get the new DLC but I'm not fond of paying 60.00 for a game that I'll eventually not be able to play when the servers go offline.

Hmm. When you get an invite it should have a popup at the bottom of the screen with the Destiny symbol. Once you see that you just hold down on the xbox button on the controller to join the fireteam/party.

Yep. I'm telling ya... NOTHING shows up on the bottom of my screen at all. Time and again players say they sent the invite or asked why I have't accepted. Nothing shows up.

The ps4 has had issues with invites not showing up, i had it happen a while back to the point my clan thought i was ignoring them.

Yeah I had to pinch myself to see if I saw it right this morning lol. Got one and I'm 3 strange coins from a 2nd, and I guarantee i won't see a strange coin the entire weekend lol. I'd hate to do a POE run and not get any coins.

Well... I FINALLY found out why I wasn't seeing any invites for the fireteam groups that I had to figure out the hard way. So privacy settings is one thing for being public vs. invite only (That I had always set up fine). However I DIDN'T have PARTY checked on notifications. Suddenly after trying LFG again I saw a pop up invite!

So wow... I had no idea the a fireteam request was the same as like a chat party, but i guess that all makes sense. It would be nice to see that in the troubleshooting for Destiny when setting up everything. I also didn't see in the upper corner of my XB1 start screen UI that there is a little World icon where notifications get stored. Nothing ever told me I had new notifications... when I highlighted that, what d'ya know.... like 12 invite notifications unanswered from the past 3 days all right there.

I think it's a first sign that I am starting to get old. I am very tech savvy, but was a bit sad it took this long to resolve this ridiculous issue. here I was about to uninstall and reinstall the game thinking it was a software bug with the digital version of the game I purchased last year.

Just run the weekly mission, not the nightfall. Do it on easy and since the teams autofill with people, you'll get 3 coins super easy.

I normally do it on the hardest setting with randoms, and 90+% of the time it works fine, even if nobody is using mics. In fact, I've
only had one bad run in 3 months playing with total randoms. Reloaded and got a new group and finished it just fine, and that
was Omnigul.

Actually I did the weekly 3 times last night on level 32 for 9 coins each. Just this one week I'm a bit short. Usually I have a lot more to spare. Man I hate Omnigul but I had good random match ups for once. I'm going to run Dragon strikes I think as a few hours there gets you enough engrams to get at least a few coins. I mean at least I got one and he may sell it again. I knew i shouldn't have bought all those heavy synths last week when I had a bunch of coins to spare lol

Ah, okay! :) If you run the level 28 Prison of Elders mission, it also autofills the party with teammates. I usually get special
coins from the side chests in the queen's treasure room. You can rerun that mission several times. You can only get items
from the big chest ONCE per week though, but the side chests will give you some sort of loot each time.

If only the other PoE missions did matchmaking I would have gotten somewhere by now.... :(

I might do that, level 28 should be a cake walk. I've only done level 34 with my clan and honestly with the changes coming there's no real point in playing the POE.

Edit: It took about 5 times going through the POE at level 28 and got enough for a third launcher. It turns out you can keep opening the big chest with a key but you can only get one exotic a week, after that it's just crap. I kept getting a shotgun.

You and me both. The real hangup with POE is the huge time investment per time.. Because you have multiple rounds of combat AND a big boss fight at the end.. Takes a chunk of time to get through it. Not something you can hammer out in 15 minutes like the weekly challenges for coins.

I got lucky and each level 28 took about 30 minutes or less but I've had level 34s last an hour at least and that's with my clan who i know well enough to predict how things will go. Honestly the payoff for POE isn't worth doing the level 35. That's sad since I only need to kill the level 35 and vault of glass on hard and i'd have all those achievements for the year done.
