Ah! Really TOP-NOTCH work! The Delta Flyer is a fantastic shuttle and yours it is by far the best replica I've ever seen. That is really something to be proud of.

Thank everyone for your comments much appreciated. I've not had a chance to get back on here for a while, i've been busy shooting a lot of films and adverts of late.

The model is still under my stairs, will try and get it out over the next few months and see if i can film a video of it.

I know you probably don't need the money and all, but people would be willing to pay good money for copies of this as a kit. It is spectacular and would make a unique addition to any Trekkie or modelers collection. Congrats on a job well done, you should be proud.

Hey All. Been browsing some of the amazing models people have been making - and i'm in awe of you all.

I thought i would share a model i built 6 years ago now - and is currently living in a wooden crate under my stairs. I decided to make a motion control model of the Delta Flyer from Star Trek Voyager as its a model no one had made. I know the actual model used in the series was CG but i thought i could make a physical model of it and this is the outcome.
Took 9 weeks to create, it had about 300 leds inside all lights independently controlled from a control box. Main shell is moulded fibreglass, took ages to make the plug. It has pop out nacelles - rear impluse thrusters - and landing gear - all pneumatic and remote controlled, mounting points on the front, rear, top and bottom and interchangable canopys for black, blue or green screen work.

I keep meaning to make a glass coffee table to display it but sadly havent yet.

My 13yo son and I are mad Star Trek fans of TNG, Voyager, DS9 (a bit) and The Movies. I asked him what he wanted for his 14th birthday in May this year and he said a Delta Flyer a he likes Star Trek Voyager so much and we decided getting or making a Reman warbird 'The Scimitar' model would be damn near impossible in a couple months.
Any chance you would share your working drawings for your incredible Delta flyer. I'm a make and have lit many star wars and am doing a Voyager now so I can see how much effort you have gone to. Really is impressive.

Apologies for digging up my now almost 10 year old thread (crazy how times flies). I recently got my model of the Delta Flyer out from storage and decided to finally take some better pictures of it. The other photos in this thread i posted disappeared with the server change.

All model lighting in this photo is from the actual lighting in the model. Four photos layered and a long exposure pass for the lighting. Didnt have a lot of space to set up the studio to take these but hopefully sometime in the future i can do some more. One day i will shoot some video.

For now it is back in storage.

For those that don't know. It is 31" long. Roughly 1/32 scale. Fibreglass, perspex, resin and renshape construction. Pneumatic landing gear, extending nacelles and rear thrusters. Full lighting setup and external controls for motion control use.

Any chance you could record a video of the lights and pneumatic moving parts in action, please?

Ah sorry. I've had to rob the pneumatics from the model for the time being as i need them in my ME262 i am building at the moment and its back in storage. (Knew i should have videoed it). I'll try and remember for next time i get to take it out of the crate.

Attached in the photos you can kinda see the control box i made to control the Delta Flyer. All over a standard 32pin computer cable which was a nightmare to wire up. 16 different circuits controlling each set of lights independently. Centre line lights, Bussard Collectors, Nacelles, Borg Sensors on different parts of it and a torpedo launcher, plus others I cant remember.

Valves are currently in the ME262 until i can afford some replacements. ME262 is 1/6th scale so pretty hefty.

It's a beast of a model to get those curves correct. There is so much to fit in there with the motion control armature it was a tight squeeze. I'd recommend doing it, it is certainly a challenge.

I'm meant to be finishing off the ME262 but its just too cold in the workshop.

I'll post one day about the full size spaceship build in my avatar and not this thing but thats for another time.

Pro-Job on that model Difficult to make with all those curves/angles. Lighting is best!!
