Re: Iron Man WIP

looking great there mate.

glad it worked out for you

Very much thanks to you. ;) And thanks for coming and checking it out, your opinion means a great deal very nice you like it. :cool

FINHEAD where can I get one of your suits ??

Can you give me a price, finished pictures, etc ?

Thanks.

Um, no suit done as of now too busy building parts for other people now. :p It'll get done just not as quick as I was hoping.

Re: Iron Man WIP

Fin, I was wondering about this rubber thing for molding.
I pay 30 Euros for 2lbs of platinum silicone but the product is really good.
What can you tell me about urethane rubber? Since I use urethane resin to make my casts, will it stick to the mold? Or does it work just like silicone? Anyone have a clue about that? Thanks ;)

To be honest with ya this is my first go at casting this way. Normally in my line of work we would just build straight up fiberglass molds and section them. And it would work fine for this but then your left with seam lines to clean up, this one has zero seam lines which is nice.
The smooth cast 326 I have here didn't stick to the bolt molds I made from the same urethane so I would say no with the proper release agent, you should always use a release agent prolongs your molds.

Re: Iron Man WIP

I had the opportunity to visit Finhead yesterday and was fortunate to while I was there pick up one of his IM lids.

First off I am blown away by this thing. It is beautiful, lightweight, durable, and incredibly well made. I may post a couple pics later but I tell you that pics do not do this thing justice.

And Clinton is one of the nicest guys I have met in this hobby. He is a great artist with a keen eye for detail. Not to mention he is surprisingly humble. Surprising only because that is a trait that is rare among prop replica artists. :lol

Look forward to a few more beers next time, buddy. :cheers

Re: Iron Man WIP

Yeah clinton is a nice humble guy and will always answer your questions. He deserves the praise not just for his quality work he does

But if you're a jerk to him he will put you in your place. Lol

:)

Re: Iron Man WIP

Ahh you guys. :$:lol
Thanks Kev, really great finally getting to meet ya. Glad you like the lid and feel it's up to par. :cool

Re: Iron Man WIP

Jeez, I posted a new thread and then discovered this. Bonehead.

Hey, the file is RAR...how do I open that? My pep viewer only opens PDO

Re: Iron Man WIP

RAR files are like ZIP files, are compressed, you need Winrar to unzip it (it's a free program) :)

Re: Iron Man WIP

finhead i think im grasping the pepped stuff but i was wondering how do you do the details (lines, bolts) on the helmet and the suit?

also would that pep file fit a 5'10'' 150 male like myself? :)

thinking of posting a wtb in the JY for the printed pep sheets since i dont have access to a printer and cant download the pep program on my college's comps!

For the lines and details I used jigsaw blades, hacksaw blades and needle files just worked em slow. For the screw pieces I used a tube that I notched and just worked it back and forth till I go the deep I needed to be at. :)
These should fit you as well as they fit me I'm 5 10.5" and 145lbs so close. Everything seems to fit me fairly good besides the arms are "just" long enough but I have fairly long arms. They are designed by Dancin Fool to fit him and he's 6' o it's close enough not to mess around with scaling. Where are you located maybe there is someone on here or the 405th that could help you out on the printing.

Re: Iron Man WIP

Not much to update but I've been messing around with some tints and one cold cast brass faceplate. It didn't work out that well, for some reason pulled way from the mold in spots, so it'll be the battle damaged faceplate. :lol:p

And one of the lid CooFunk took home. This one was just trimed sanded a coat of primer and a coat of base just cause I had some kicking around. :cool

Yes my bike one of the 6, I only have 4 insured and on the road though. Yellow Gelcoat? No yellow. There's black, gold, silver, Red met and a cold cast brass.

Re: Iron Man WIP

Hope this works never tried vid before. Only have a few minutes before I'm gone for the day, but here's a prototype hing system for the faceplate. I had a system figured out but a fellow member on the 405th ( JUICE) posted his a bit ago and his was a little easier to built than mine so I used his. Works nicely this is just some plastic I cut out quick and mocked it together to try it out, the final hing should work smoother. :)
I'll post some details tomorrow morning as I'm off for the day/night. I'll only have my phone. :confused:cool
You'll have to click the link can't figure out how to post it here, I suck. :p
