definitive E-11 site?

so, in a couple of weeks i'll be getting a decommissioned sterling. unsurprisingly, i want to convert this to as nice an e-11 as possible.

is there any site that collects up all of the wisdom on these things? a sort of 1 stop shop to identify all of the greeblies, and how to mount them all? parts of star wars has the bits, but not so much in the way of how it all fits together.

i can search here and find everything, but was thinking it would be cool if there was a sort of ultimate guide to building an E-11 page somewhere :)

and if there isn't, maybe i should make one as i go.

Definitive.... for which type? ROTJ? ANH? Which style? There's lots of variations. I think most of the knowledge came from comparing pictures of screen-used blasters, and screen caps.

maybe i should have been more clear... i knew i wasn't wording that well.

information like "how were the hengstler counters attached" or "what did you make your scope mounting strip out of and how"

sort of a step by step walkthrough of converting your sterling to an e-11.

or said a different way: "i just paid $100 for this scope, i don't want to mess up installing it."

:)

so far i've got the gun and hengstler (eagle + logo) on the way, and hope to have a 1942 M40 scope (according to parts of sw that matches the m38 of the same year).

but as i'm piling on the $$, i'm feeling nervous about actually putting it all together. it's not like a resin kit where i can bondo away my mistakes ;)

or i could be over thinking it, and it could just be as simple as glue it all together and hope for the best.

Well, there's the 'T' tracks, which, last time I checked, nobody still knew what they were, let alone how they were attached. Most think metal or plastuc/rubber and were just stuck into the vent holes.

I thought someone posted some sort of evidence a while back that the Hengstlers were just glued on.

The scope rail was drilled to accept the holes already on the scope.

The parts of sw is a good site. I got a lot of details for my blasters from that site. I picked the ANH A2 version as it had everything on it (power cylinders, coil wires, Hengstler counter). Make sure you match the type of scope rail (straight or bent) with the right type of scope. The parts of sw has a list of these screen used combinations.
Also, look at a lot of photos (screen caps and actual photos of the Sterling) and take your time.

looks like the A1 is the style i'll be going for... i've got a hengstler with eagle/logo and a real 1942 M40 on the way. no wires for me, but i'm ok with that :)

the scope mounting rail could be interesting... i'm not quite sure what to use to get the bends in the metal looking nice and sharp. though if it's only 1/16th thick, that shouldn't be too hard.

can you tell this is the first time i'm building up something not made of resin?

SaberFreak found and offers up real "T" tracks that if not the real deal used they are the closest we will probably ever find as a found part...

And others have simply warmed them up and stuffed them in the holes of the Sterling getting a nearly identical profile in the bend to the real deal...
