Death Star Attack Screen Cap Reference from Hand Solo

This could really go under Costuming and General Modeling forums as well as this one,.. but this reference provided by Hand Solo (Bob) shows some extremely interesting things of the Studio Models and Pyros involved in this great scene.

Bob uploaded these to me to show reference of some items that are commissioned from me at this time,.. and I was impressed with the work and detail he pulled from the scenes.

X-wings, Y-wings, ... anything that was involved in the attack on the Death Star from Ep IV, as captured from the Special Edition DVD. True,.. some ships may be digital,.. but some aren't as well,.. and they are shown in detail too. May things surprised me as they were never noticed from the speed at which the scenes happened. Frame by frame sheds new light on many items.

So,.. here are 816 hi-res bitmap images starting in the Ep IV pilot briefing room and ending with the destruction of the Deathstar.

The file started at 2.10 GB of data, but compressed to 733 MB in the zip file here:

http://www.kuhnglobal.net/RED2/Bob-DeathSt...-Screencaps.zip

I uploaded the massive zip file to another Kuhn Global server at about 6 Mbps and it took 19 minutes 20 seconds to do so. So,.. you do the math according to your download connection speed as to how fast you will pull this file.

REFERENCE FOR ALL TO USE AND ENJOY FROM BOB (HAND SOLO)..

Great job Bob. and... THANKS. :thumbsup :p :thumbsup

I never noticed the pyro x-wing with basically undetailed sticks for laser cannons.

That was my reaction as well.

This reference is good for almost every aspect,.. even more than the models. Just look at the Helmet details. And the full sized replicas. Bob did a bang up job here.

The server that I have this zip file stored and available on got so many DL's and hits last night that my internet provider told me I had crossed my data threshold many times over. And let me just say,.. that is more data than most major corporations put out in a week. LOLOLOL

That said,.. I may take this file down soon so I don't create havoc with the multiple DS3 lines that data is traveling through. After all,.. Microsoft needs bandwidth too. LOL. A joke,.. but you get the idea. ;)

Oh...and it's our pleasure Julien.

If you look carefully, you can see one of the wings on the stick fighters is bottomside-up too :)

Thank you for making these Hand Solo and thanks for hosting the file Kuhn.

There are some folks out there who actually have the new high def releases of the OT. They haven't come out on the new Blu Ray or HD DVD format yet, but they were running on Cinemax in November, Sky TV as well as some German network.

These were all captured in 1080i/p on tivo and hosted on usenet. I don't have the hard drive space to download them... but there's some screen caps here:

I found those pics from these threads:

The image quality is insane.

^ Those are great caps... but skip around just a bit. If only there were the number of Hi-Def caps of the Death Star Battle that I just compliled, I'd have replaced all 816 .bmp images with those...

Thx for putting up those links from the OT board.

No prob

They do jump around a bit, that's why.. let's say I'm able to find the torrent files for these. Anyone here willing to download them and make a screen cap pack for all of us?

I'd like to have the entire Endor sequence in video form so I can do my own caps. We got any video afficianados here? I heard the releases were between like 10-20 gigabytes each.. I'd need to get another hard drive before I could download them myself..

If you start on the first pic and click through them really fast, it's almost like watching the movie. :thumbsup
