Has anyone else watched this one? I know it just came out however its streaming on Netflix. Personally I wouldn't have rented it but heck it was on Netflix.

Honestly, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Sure it is a straight to video film but it was actually pretty entertaining. I liked it a lot better than Death Race 2. It was interesting how they tied everything together through the trilogy. Its not perfect and you can tell with the over all story that they really didn't plan on making a trilogy. But it worked I suppose.

I was entertained by this as my bar wasn't set too high for these action flicks however I may be biased due to my love for the Twisted Metal games growing up.

What did you think?

It was alright for what it was but completely unnecessary. I'm just glad it's over unless they start doing more movies before statham takes over.

I think anymore movies would just be beating a dead horse. I'm not sure if there are any new concepts they can bring to the table for a successful movie.

I was home sick a week or so ago and did a Death Race marathon. Both 2 and 3 are on Netflix, and I was pleased with both - even though 3 was better than 2. I liked the clever organization of the movies, that there were good actors in both, that the SAME actors were in both, and that several actors reprised character roles from the original film. Not bad!

:thumbsup

Wait, they did 3 already?! I may actually have to check it out. I've enjoyed the Death Race films for what they are.

I really liked the first two, as corny as they were at times. I definitely want to check out the third one.

Inferno was definitely a fun and thrilling movie! I found it to be way more entertaining than DR2. Part 2, for me, seemed to just be re used scenes from the first one, especially when it came to the race itself. But, this third one takes us to a completely different location and gives us a different kind of racing as well as some nice plot twists that I didn't think this movie was capable of. Very good movie
plus, we get to see the Mustang turned into a baja trophy truck...how awesome is that?!

For strait to DVD movies, I was really impressed when I saw how much better 3 was than 2, and like I said, 2 was definitely worth a watch!

I'm glad to see people enjoyed it. I was afraid that I was going to be burned at the stake for claiming that i liked it.

It's weird.

My Netflix says it isn't releasing until Feb 19th but yet it is streaming on there?

I'll be checking it out tomorrow for sure!

So the Death Races aren't the greatest movie ever, but I found myself excited to see it every time a new one was announced. And I've grown very fond of the Monster. And here's where my love/hate-thing with the third one comes in. I love how they made the Mustang desert-ready while retaining its looks but giving it a lot more mass and buffing it up. But it didn't have the Tombstone anymore. That's kind of a bummer. But I can see why it would be sucky in the desert.

And I'm half-hoping that they're making more, even though the concept is done and over. I mean, how often can you say "Cons racing"? But still, they were fun.

It was pretty interesting. I enjoy the first one alot. i watch it every time it comes on tv. I need to watch the secong one again as I fell asleep during it. (Long work days followed by watching a movie doesn't always mix).

Wonder if they will do any more of them. Missed seeing the mustang this time around. Most of the vehicles in the 3rd one were ugly and not very appealing looking. but it was a desert setting so I guess i could forgive that!

The reason why they left the Tombstone away is actually perfectly logical. A friend of mine who's a mechanic and dabbles in racecar-building. He does mostly streetcar-racing (Not Fast/Furious-style) but he has done some rallye things, too. He said that they very probably left the Tombstone away simply because it was too heavy. Here's paraphrasing what he said.

They left the Tombstone out because of its weight. Would you have made it lighter, it would be too ineffective. But would it be as heavy at it is, the car would get stuck in the desert every ten feet. Because when doing racing on soft soil, such as sand, you need to distribute the weight as evenly as possible. That's why the cars have huge suspensions and bigger tyres. The tyres are as big as possible before the car loses traction while accellerating.

Assume you slap a large piece of concrete to the car's ass (he calls it that). The back gets heavy, and even if the Desert Monster is a four-wheel-drive, it will get stuck because the back is just too heavy.

That makes sense.

I kept getting confused between Joker and Nero because they both had similar vehicles and some of the scenes they used the opposite vehicle for driver. For instance after Joker is out of the race, Nero goes crashing through a hut and its actually Joker's vehicle.
