Yesterday I made myself Dean's purgatory blade. I am going to youmacon as Dean and my friends as Sam and Cas. (all female versions) I will post pics of the blade and our outfits when I get them. I wish I new how to upload pics while on my phone.

Here is my blade. Keep in mind that I made it quick for my cosplay of fem Dean for this weekend. I made it out of foam board, plastic bone from the halloween store, twine and mold magic.

Nice I've been waiting to see someone on here make a replica of this since it was shown on the season premiere. I'm still waiting for them to explain whether it has any significance in the real world, and by that I mean is it basically just a machete made out of "purgatory" or is it special like (Ruby's) Dean's knife/The Colt. I think it would be much more interesting if there was something more to it than just an improvised weapon, but so far it seems like that's all it is.

Either way it looks awesome, can't wait to see pics of your replica...

me too! nice work! I don't remember specifics, but it looked to me like a primitive version of an axe or machete (like a large hald moon shaped piece of rock on the end of a stick...is coming to memory) Great job!

You know that axe is made from a knapper(I.E chipped) piece of obsidian and a human femur.I'd like to see how how it came out and what you used to make it

I don't think there a lot of magic to it. The axe head is made of obsidian which in itself is one of the best materials to make cutting tools. The Aztecs ruled their empire with nothing more then weapons made from volcanic glass. when the Spanish came to battle the Aztec the chroniclers wrote that the aztec warriors could behead a spanish horse with just one swipe of the "sword clubs"

Mythbusters tested that. Or..some modern weapons show...either way it worked, that myth is pretty true. Obsidian is a sick material, that's for sure.

Edit: True in the sense that one swing would tear through past the spine. It wouldn't pop the head off a horse completely, but ripped and tore through most of its neck.

Awesome, this is actually my next build! I have been a big fan of the series for a while but dont keep up with when it comes on. I just realized the new season started a few days ago and had to play catch up, but i knew from the first second that thing was on screen I needed to make it. Cant wait to see your rendition.

looks good but it does not have the shine of obsidian..If you look at Dean's axe in shows that it has the shine of being "knaped" or chipped and it would leave a kind of shiny/ chipped look to it.But look good

That is true, I did not have time for the con to complete that but I tested a little piece and going to fix a few spots and add the shine. I could do two different things. A spray shine or just cover it all in mod pogde. lol

Thanks
