Deadmau5

Wow great start! where did you get the globe? :p if you want check out my thread on my dead mau5 heads, I had to make my own globe for both of mine lol

so i ran into a problem the other day, i am trying to figure how im going to be shaping the lip perfectly... other than that we are working on it today, planning on doing the polycrylic coating on the ears and the fiberglassing on the head, will be posting pictures later

just cut out the mouth of the globe and use a bit of eva foam floor mats to line the section you cut out! itll give you a perfectly uniform thickness lip and its cheap and easy!

its how i did mine :)

Mutha ****in' metal rods are too bendy and keep trying to stick out of the ears -_- already had to cut and sand another ear, and the other pic is the "plumbers tape" that we glued on the inside to keep the acryilic from cracking from the tightened nuts

ahh here we are finally, time to start the polycrylic coating on the ears and after gluing on the lip, doing the fiberglassing tomorrow probably

Just recently cut the strips of fiberglass and applied the first layer onto the head and waiting for it to dry. When it comes to fiberglassing make sure you get good sheets because even my cousin said the stuff we got is way too loosely woven and the resin started to hardened faster than indicated -_-"

oh one extra thing, I changed my mind from getting regular rgb leds and el wires that would be wired together to an equalizer with a microphone. Instead I just ordered 2 sets of wires and matrix chips (35 different flash and color settings which can be changed to your liking) from emazinglights.com which for halloween is set to base off of an orange color and black paint for the head. I think it's going to turn out pretty sick still

Alright so through the time I haven't posted pics on here, we sanded down the first layer and, since the fiberglass we have been using is too hard to work with, we went and got woven fiberglass to use for the second layer.

The pictures are of the first layer mostly sanded down, the second layer on the ears (which we decided to just cut out the shape of the ears and some to layer the outer part of them and just slapped those on, which worked out just as we had planned.), and the most recent ones are me wearing the head with the hardhat drilled into place.

It's not too heavy, which I will probably weigh once it's all finished. But here's some pictures of LED testing in the eyes and the first layer of black spraypaint we did today.

Alright so I pretty much finished the mau5head the night before halloween, I just hadn't had the time to post the pictures or outcome on here. I'm very happy with the look, but yet if i were to make another one in the future there are many things that I would probably change or work to do better.

alright so a friend took pictures on halloween of my costume and me messing around with my gloves, the eyes look weird tho cuz they were starting to run low on batteries so one got brighter than the other.
