Dead Space 3 Suit

So I decided on doing the Dead Space 3 Engineering RIG. I also got the Dead Space art book which has cool schematics and designs that will help me. I went to an armor party of a friend's and prototyped the helmet.

Not bad for a thrown together prototype. But I want to do it better and I will be doing a second prototype following the designs from the game and the art book. Since it was giving me trouble, doing the second prototype I mean, I decided to take a break and do something else. I moved over and created a template for the DS3 Plasma Cutter! I want to have four weapons I can use so I will probably be making many more of these.

It's to scale and it fits my hand perfectly, even in paper form. I used 18x24 Newsprint paper to make the template and I hand drew it. So yeah, this my first big step toward doing a professional looking suit. I'm going to make sure my Plasma Cutter can at least light up and do the 90 degree turn to the right, following what Eurogamer did for his (this is the link Dead Space 2 Plasma Cutter ) and if possible I want to make the other weapons light up for accuracy.

Hope you like what you see so far!

Subbed. You did both of those freehand?! O-O
Looks like a great start, can't wait to see how the rest of this turns out!

Yeah, I did. Unfortunately I am stuck on how to do the new prototype helmet. I want to try and make it look accurate to the game more and more with the next prototype. I'm just stuck on how to do it. Glad you like what you see so far! I hope I won't disappoint!

IMG_6591.JPGIMG_6592.JPGIMG_6593.JPG So this part of the prototype for the Plasma Cutter. I'm mostly doing it from Cardboard. Just a scratch build so I know what I'll need to do and where I'll need to open up things so I can add lights.

Not sure how I missed this thread, awesome start buddy :thumbsup Good luck with the rest of the build, I'll be keeping an eye on this one ;)

Alright! About time I updated this!

So me being, well, me, I decided to put on the coveralls I bought and take selfies!!! Joking, joking.. I took the pictures and put them in Photoshop and drew the size and how the HUD chest piece would fit on me and the coveralls.

Then using that as reference, I cut out pieces of foam accordingly with the design. I still have to trim some stuff down and make at least one more piece but right now I figured I'd work on keeping them rounded (hence the belt.) the first piece was not exactly the side or shape I wanted but it was a good place to start trimming down!

In this last pic I am also rounding out the left shoulder piece

Welp! Hope you like what you see so far! I have a deadline to get this done by so you should be seeing a lot more in the next couple months xD

Update! Tiny one anyway!

Upon almost finishing the base of the HUD piece, I found it was too tall and not opened up enough! So I fixed that! I think it looks pretty good so far! The shoulder bit is finished, once I finish the ribbing for the right arm and the stuff on the left arm and torso, I'll be painting it.

All I can say is looking utterly superb thus far! Using regular old coveralls huh? very cool, curious to see how modified they'll get besides armor. I contemplated doing DS1 Isaac and struggled with the idea, as you can see his suit is almost a thick weave, like what Carhartt Jackets are made of, and did not find a good base to accurately fulfill that. Power to you man!

Well thank you very much!!! With this one I'm basing it much more off of the DS2 and DS3 Engineering RIG, the DS1 Isaac would be difficult depending on which level RIG you chose. If you chose to do the Level 1 RIG it has very little details and you could probably just sew together a suit with a zipper up the middle, hardest part would be the helmet.

I chose the coveralls because I didn't want to have to put on a pair of pants THEN a jacket and do it like that because people would notice the separation. The coveralls are a good fit for me and actually have a nice texture like the DS2 and DS3 RIG. Once I get the armor pieces done I will be doing some minor fabric attachments to give the coveralls the multi-layer look from the games.

I hope to do multiple Dead Space suits and even make a Necromorph, so this is really just the first in a long line ^^ Thanks again!!
