DaVinci Code DVDs

Just picked up the DaVinci Code DVD set, and it came with a mini Cryptex (same as the Noble Collection one) and a small Journal prop. Very cool, and since I hadn't heard about it prior to seeing it in the store, thought I'd pass it on. I got it with a coupon, so I paid less for the whole set than I would have for the Nobles mini Cryptex alone...

Sorry if this is old news. I for one am excited to see movies shipping with prop replicas...

It'd be nice to see more DVDs being sold with replicas. I know the Tenacious D CD is shipping with a replica of the Pick of Destiny.

I looked at it in Walmart. You could not see the book, but the Cryptex looked kinda cheap (like a plastic toy) at least to me, and I decided to let it pass.
Maybe I am wrong and it looks nice outside of the "window box" it comes in, but I was a little disapointed.

It's the exact same Cryptex (mini version) that was used in the Da Vinci Code online contest way back before the movie release. It's made of pot metal and the dial rings are plastic, for what it's worth.

The set was going for $69.99 at Fred Meyer, so figure that with DVD prices at $20, the extras would cost you an extra $50 bones.

"Fred Meyer" :eek You must be in Oregon or Washington, Rebel Hunter :D
I am glad to hear they are metal it looked a little like plastic to me. I think it was the size that put me off, I guess I don't get to be cheap if I want a good looking one :angel

Yeah...Puyallup, Wa. to be exact. :D

There is actually a guy in Tacoma that manufactures beautiful handcrafted Cryptexes out of exotic woods, stone and metal. His website/company escape me at this time tho...maybe someone here will chime in.

I bought the 2 Disc DVD Gift Set from Wal-Mart for $49.96. The Cryptex is Metal it looks like my Door Knob, Brass Looking, the letters are Plastic, it measures about 3 3/4" long, and the instruction on how to change the combination has the noble website on it. The journal looks great, replace the cover with a Leather Bound cover and it would be a great piece. I figure I will pick up the full size Cryptex from Noble later and Leather bound the Journal.

How did Langdon's notebook look?
What is in it?
Thanks ahead of time for any answers.

Sincerely,
The WOLF

Thanks for the reply, Kris.
The inclusion of the movie of you flipping through was very helpful.
It has more pages than I expected and looks like an interesting read on symbology.

I suppose you could glue a new cover over it and have nice looking prop.

Sincerely,
The WOLF

any idea iof the box that comes with the noble collection one has the pop out brass plaque?

Yes it does come out, its magnetic I believe, but there is no inscription on the backside of it

did anyone have a comparison shot of the mini one with the noble one or know the size difference? According to the Noble site, theirs is 6 inches long.

My exgirlfriend, who knows a LOT more about rituals, occult, wicca, and such (she could be a female Langdon) said a lot of the content of the book was real, and even accurate enough to do certain rituals and all.

Very cool.

Kris, when I first saw the Journal, I thought it was too informative to be a movie Prop. Usually Prop Books have repeating words and sentences in it. I own quite a few prop Books. So what I did was take this Journal to two friends that study secret socities like the masons and the Illuminati and they say these notes make sence along with the symbols.
