Darth Vader Helmet/Armor Displays

Probably my favorite prop combination is just a Vader helmet with armor...like a "bust". Since I can't display my stuff, sometimes I like to throw it together and take photos. Let's see your Vader helmet/armor combinations...here's one of mine (please do not repost). Feel free to post your set as a "no-name" brand as well if you like.... and sets from ANH/ESB/ROTJ/ROTS would be great to see. I know there are some nice brush painted sets out there...I hope someday to have that for mine as well. If your bust has capes even better :).

Wow Thomas, wonderful pics.

I think Ill put mine together later and see if I can get a few decent pics to post. What do you use to put your pieces on?

Thanks, I use a 22" helmet stand (steel post, composite base) that I got from a member here whose name escapes me (I can show a stand pic later), and the armor is supported by two pillows :). Exposure compensation of +1.3EV effectively washes out the pillows...

Man, that looks awesome SL, you really do take a great pic.

I'm thinking about doing one out of PVC piping, someone here's done it before, but I can't remember who. I was toying with the idea of using a solid round based mic stand with a boom attached to make a T, but center of gravity would be a worry. :confused

The best I have so far is the ones I did in this thread....

But I do plan on doing something better in the future.

This is the one I made for my Rubies fiberglass recast lid and Rubies armor.

Its a very rudimentary desgin. The base is a wooden kitchen towel holder. I added an aluminium tube to boost the height to accomodate the lid and duck taped a PVC tube to support the armor. By itself, it doesn't look much, but then again, once you've put on the armor and the lid, you don't see the stand at all.

I build a stand from 80mm x 80mm wood and a large sheet of MDF originally to display my Vader costume when I wasn't wearing it, but ended up buying parts for the bust itself.

It's basically a huge cross glued to the base with several 80mm x 80mm blocks (for added strength), then lightly padded to help fill out the undersuit jacket. The base cover the whole drawer top, so there's no way it'll topple.

Oh and as a bonus it scares people so keeps them out of my room. Mwa ha ha ha.

Great displays, guys....I like the James Earl Jones framed photo next to the Vader...nice idea.

Here's the stand I use, I don't yet have a permanent cross-brace for it...now if I can only remember who I got this from?
