I'm back with some major progress, all the armor pieces are cast and primed. Here's a few shots and a little mock up I did with the helmet I made to see how it will all fit together.
I didn't exactly nail the color choice for the grey areas but for now I don't think I'm going to change it, the camera on my phone isn't doing it any favors either. Still needs some touch up in a few spots but I couldn't resist setting it up again to see how it looks, I even used an old graduation robe I had in my closet as a makeshift cape.
It is different, however I think the gunmetal I used on the face is probably darker than the original. I might test the same paint I used on the helmet on the back of the armor and see how it looks against the black parts. Either way I'll probably go over it with something a little closer to the original, now is the time to do it.
After a very long hiatus I am back. Life got in the way and this project sort of stalled but recently I have gotten back into it. First of all I got all my lights working and I am happy with how they turned out. I have also been working on building a mannequin. Having had years now to stare at the helmet I am starting to see some flaws that I would like to correct. While this is obviously far from anything screen accurate the most glaring problem to me is the dome. I feel like the sides flare out too much and the bottom contour is a bit wonky. I've used some references to make some quick draw overs. I plan to use bondo and fiberglass to make some adjustments and maybe hack into it with a dremel tool as well then make a new mold, this will also allow me to get a smoother finish. Any thoughts and feedback would be greatly appreciated as always, thanks for looking!
