Darth Vader Costume by Tammi Mars

Considering how difficult it is to find some of the parts I am.seriously thinking about making it a later model.... like rotj .

Perhaps you can check a local shop that sells all kinds of electronics for music, sound and lights and ask if they have any vintage inventory left ... I found the right size plastic light covers of ESB/ROTJ ... alas they were orange in color and still quite expensive. I was lucky to find some used green covers + accurate ESB red leds for sale on thepropden ... so I only had to build the black sides, which I did from the leftover ABS after cutting the rectangular holes in the plastic Hammond boxes :

and a template for the belt buckle which I made out of plastic ABS :

The 'silver or metal' like parts are made out of double layer 1mm black ABS ... the back is made of a 3mm thick still repainted medium gloss black ABS :)

Can you post a direct link to the ones you found, please? Check thepropden again ... I don't know how large the ANH are ... the green plastic covers I used are 13,5 x 20mm ... that's the green covers only not the extra plastic around :wacko

Indeed the one before is a bit to small . . . you need the lenses to be the size I mentioned ... the second ones are a bit to large but could be converted I suppose ... and if you are going to use batteries you may need to put another LED in for the correct Voltage (?) ... my dad was so kind to assist me with electronics. So have you decided which movie version of Darth Vader you are going to continue with?

Working on the beltbuckle, the lines are too wide so I sparkled them and made them tighter. More pictures later. uploadfromtaptalk1432134484569.jpguploadfromtaptalk1432134498178.jpguploadfromtaptalk1432134517307.jpguploadfromtaptalk1432134530758.jpg

Yeah ... I screwed up the first round of paint ... I than put some terpentine with chrome paint in a container left over from the Chinees take-away and put the metal looking part in that, after gently stirring and shaking it gave a nice even yet metal appearance by mere luck. Check the direction in which to point the belt buckle it should be reversed ... and those belt boxes are okay yet seem a bit to long ... but you can always upgrade later. The black belt is about 5,7 cm in width ... so a bit larger than regular fashion belts ... I found mine in a second hand store ;)

Ps, the photo was taken against a mirror ;-) so it's probably right in reality. I'm working on the cod piece today. 8mm thick Eva foam from a camping mat and faux leather.

I tried to fix the hole in the cod but messed it up. Made a new one instead from a picture I printed.uploadfromtaptalk1432306667392.jpguploadfromtaptalk1432306687500.jpguploadfromtaptalk1432306697720.jpguploadfromtaptalk1432306722422.jpg
I also ordered plastic boxes from eBay in the right sizes for the belt. Not Hammond but same size.
