Darth Bane, Post Dxun

Helm and make-up test III

Thank you. Some very dear and surprizing responses. I am honoured.

1. Darth Goat: I don't have much of a scale, but the device that has been mocking my attempt to return to my ideal body weight says the helm is about 7 lbs.

2. Rabbitooth: I'd be happy for you to use my finished costume images with appropiate credit. It may be a while before the suit is done. While you wait there's my avatar. Thank you for the consideration. (I think your Battle of Ruusan Darth Bane is rather nice.)

3. Darth Kahnt: I had fully intended to offer castings off this sculpture, but I destroyed the mold in the process of making it. (I made a somewhat complicated rubber mold but made a couple mistakes so bad that I deleted the production images in shame.) This piece seems too difficult to reproduce with my skills.

4. Darth Detroit: I tend to agree, it would have been interesting to see Darth Bane exist in the same tymeline of Darth Sidious. I believe Darth Bane would have recognized Darth Sidious as a Sith Master and summarily attempted to kill Sidious on first encounter. To otherwise would be to turn his back on the philosophy he coined on Dxun. As to who would win, I leave to be answered by a game of SW miniatures.

Be well,
Thomas

Wow. I remember glancing at that picture of Bane long ago, and not knowing much about the character, I just assumed he had some crazy alien head. The thing you've built looks incredible, though I'm not sure if it should be called a helmet, or a crown, or what.

Please be sure to come back and post pics of the final ensemble.

Thomas,

That's too bad. I would have got one for sure.

Helm of the Architect

1. Web Cheif: Alas, I don't think my Darth Bane will be proper for D*C this year. I do believe you will be seeing him soon though, and before CIV.

Be well,
Thomas

Today,1st of November, 2006, my WIP Darth Bane appears in a certain SW Comic as illustrated by the wonderful Jan Duursema. Jan used my helmet, orbalisk, and Sith broach designs in her rendering;

A full colour preview (Spoiler Alert) can be found on the Dark Horse websight; Darth Bane's return

I cannot tell you how honoured I am to be a part of this process. It is really satisfying to be part of the chain of inspiration that is Star Wars.

Be well,
Thomas

This is a great design, can't wait to see your's complete. Now you just have to get this EU character past the 501st's LMO :lol

Pretty cool.

Slightly off topic: any chance you might make some of your Durge helmets
to sell?

I knew it was you in that issue the second I saw it. Congrats on defining a character once again.

Thats a great honor Thomas but your work is truly deserving of it.

That Bane mask is one of my favorite pieces I have seen on the RPF bar none.

Wow... Just Wow Thomas. You never cease to amaze me. We'll have to have a sit down one D*C and talk shop. Beer on me.

Wow. :eek Awesome. :love

Now I am getting my dose of Goosebumps again after seeing your Darth Bane. LOL. One reason why I stop flipping the page on Darth Bane in one of my book about the Siths.

Congrates on making into the comics again. ;)

sweet zombie *****.

that helmet is AMAZING.

i know nothing of darth bane (i did see he was in a new novel), but that helmet is an amazing piece of work.

no offense meant on this, but find someone who has some serious skill and get that sucker in some silicone.

:eek

too friggin cool.....

chris

You are truly gifted and if you do ever find a way to make more of that helmet I'm in for one.

Wow Thomas

Your work is really inspiring.
I´m pretty much "done" with my dreams of the EU "Luke as imp. guard" costume. I trashed the master of the helmet while attempting to mold/ cast it AND wasn´t able to get a decent cast to proceed to work with either :cry

RIght now I´m not motivated to start any new costume attempts :unsure

Keep up the great work ...

Markus

Good evening,

These images represent my latest progress on this project--the casting and sculptiing of the Parent Orbalisks that attach themselves to Darth Bane's chest.

DarthBaneP04.jpg

Orbalisk Production; Extra Large

DarthBaneP05.jpg

The Mother of all Orbalisks

Currently I am courting solutions to attach these castings to a body suit or other. One promising possiblity would be to attach each Orbalisk to a metal button and sew each on to the fabric individually. I would be interested in any other suggestions this board might have to offer. (Darth Bane's torso, arms, and neck is covered by an entire brood of these creatures. It is his living armour.)

Be well,
Thomas

Good night, sleep tight,
Don't let the Orbalisks bite--unless you are a true Sith Lord with a full comprehesion of the Darkside of the Force and physical attributes powerful enough to withstand their venom.
