Darth Bane Debut

Costume Contest Entry Video (link)

I have recently returned from my journey in Europe. The first stop was the Jedi-Con convention in Düsseldorf, Deutschland. I was determined to make this the debut of my Darth Bane armour.

The process, or at least my process, of preparing a costume for a majour debut involves buying and playing an unrelated video game through to completion two weeks before the event, going for thoughtful walks, the gym, posting on forums, shopping, thinking about eating, staring at my ceiling crying, stressing to the point that my back muscles spasm and I need a cane to walk, a visit to the doctor and pharmacist, staying up twenty-four hours cramming on completing the suit, stressing over packing, airport security, lack of sleep and an extended flight in a seat place not designed to accommodate my size, working in the hotel room to finish, and VIOLA! Done. It really is that easy.

Be well,
Thomas

To OdiWan72; I have not weighed the suit, but it is surprisingly light, on the order of an ABS Stormtrooper.

Very nice! Always refreshing to see someone create something from the novels/comics!

Bane was definitely one of the more interesting Sith ;)

I look forward to sharing completed photos of this one day.

After a stressful dash to meet my ride to Wizard World Chicago Comic Con 2010, I realized I had failed to pack the rebato (high collar) of my costume character's cloak. I was about to be bummed when I realized I had just completed the back of my armour, so I could go around "cloakless" and still present a completed suit.

I am glad I did.

American Gladiator Beth Horn and her manager were particularly supportive of my attempt to bring the Sith'ari to life. I was both surprised and touched.

:eek

I've been tinkering with the idea of trying to make a Darth Bane costume for several years now and I've only just found this site recently and I have to say I'm amazed by everyone's skill levels on here.

Nedless to say I think any Darth Bane I did now would pale in comparison :cry so I'll just shuffle off back to the IM threads now :confused
