Darkening metal

Does anyone know the name of the product that can be used to darken steel/aluminium? I think it's used for guns.

Do a google search for Gun Bluing.

I know for aluminium, you can use aluma black. For steel, do a quick search for cold bluing - there are a lot of different choices to pick from.
