Unlimited Run Dark Matter Props - One Stop Claw Shop - Metallic, Bone, & More - Still taking orders

Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - August Run - 4 spots lef

@Darkside, probably would have helped a lot, I stripped off nearly all the plastidip trying to get them settled haha. Also, I don't know if anybody has asked this but have you considered using coat hangers for the wires? As I was bending the wires on my claws, I was thinking if you ever thought about using those at the parts where they are already bent, would give that square effect seen in the movies for a better fit?

I haven't seen any square coat hangers but that would be a pain in the arse anyways to have to straighten out the coat hangers before I can put them in the claws. So... No, I won't be using coat hanger wire.

What sucks is that because the claws aren't using standard parts when they made them for the movies they have access to equipment we wouldn't. Maybe another way is to design the grips so that you can have an Allen screw on one or both sides of the grips where the wires would go to kinda help hold the wires in place. I have some claws made out of aluminum that are like that that I bought before ever finding the RPF. The screws would kinda help grip the wires and keep then from moving as much.

Oh and three more things
1. Plasti dip is the greatest product I swear!
2. Dark side gets mad props for his claws
3. The 31st cannot come sooner and I hope one slot is left by then.

Thanks. I have thought of the set screws too but then that is more hardware and more work and I don't think it would help that much. You wouldn't really be able to crank it down since the grips are resin too. If they were metal grips then that might work better.

However, I think I mentioned it before but I am going to be experimenting with the square wire I found once it gets here and I will see if I can make it work. I will let you guys know how it works out.

Square wire might be awfully hard to bend properly

Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - August Run - 3 spots

Yeah, it should be more solid. I have to experiment with it and see what I can do with it. If I think that it is too hard to bend without 2 sets of pliers then I may offer both with or without the square wire so that people that don't have tools can go with the round if they want.

But this is all assuming that the square wire works out in the first place. ;)

Now you make it hard not to go ahead and wait for you to test em lol

Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - August Run - 3 spots lef

Well no square, bad choice of wording. I was trying to say you could use the bends that were already in the wire to better adjust it to the palm piece if you can visualize that?

I will attempt to use a square wire in my current mold with a round hole, lol. It may not work and then I would have to make a new mold with a square hole for the square wire. If that is the case then it would be a little while before I made new molds.

I will check.

Sure I will put you on the interest list and when I get your payment I will add you the the August Run. Thanks.

Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - August Run - 3 spots lef

Ok, I have filled all 10 spots on the August Run but I may be able to recruit some help in August that will allow me to put out more claws. Stay tuned... I might add more spots for the August Run.

Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - Post interest for next r

Well I'm interested. I was hoping to get in on August but I had to wait for paycheck at the end of the month. If you find you'll be able to add a slot I guess I'll just pull from savings and put it back in when pay hits the bank. Let us all know!!

Oh and with the square wire round hole issue. They make a set of files that have a handle and switchable pieces that has a squared end. You could always just take an existing grip and use the square file to square the hole then sand the two halves down a bit so the wire fits properly if you know what I mean. Will at least give you an idea on whether the square wire will work and you can then know whether you need to make a mold for a square holed grip. That way you don't waste too much on making a mold for it.

What in the world did I start by mentioning square wires?! Guys, he has to make a new mold for those. I wouldn't want him to jimmy-rig my wolverine claws. Plus it wouldn't be possible: the wire in the claws has a U-bend. Dark would have to make a new mold. Be patient people! :p

He already filled the runs for August although he might be adding more if he can recruit some extra hands so I wouldn't expect to get claws for at least a month and half or more. Soon as he says if he was able to recruit someone he'll be getting my money too.

Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - Post interest for next r

That's fine, just wanted to be put on whichever run was next. :)

Good idea on the square files... if I can find one in the right size it may help me do some testing before I commit to a new mold.

It has been something I have been looking into even before you mentioned it. They are just not all that easy to come by. Of course, I would make a new mold for the production run but it will be good to give it a test run before I commit to a new mold.

Payment received

How much in English pounds sorry I'm English I have to get them the soo cool :D

So according to Google search... 80 US Dollar = 51.98 British Pound Sterling

I have noticed that PayPal is slightly different on the conversion rates. You will need to send your payment to me in USD and PayPal will tell you how many English Pounds you will be charged.

If possible, I would like to order The Wolverine Claws with a light brown grip.

/rubs hands together.

After seeing the movie, I'm hoping you get those extra helping hands for August. I would rather have claws that look the part and fit better then the ones I have currently.

Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - Post interest for next r

Payment sent for my Wolverine Claws

Thanks

Re: Darkside501st's Metallic Origins & The Wolverine Claws - Post interest for next r

Dude, do you know how much I want claws?! I want them so bad that I made a paper "the wolverine" claw to test out from a file folder and a paperclip. My wife thinks I'm insane! Must. Have. Claws. :wacko When's the first set gonna be shipped?

(BTW No rush. Just a humorous post.)

I thought it came out well. Made it in 5 minutes using your "The wolverine" collage and a buttload of staples! Should have used duct tape. :lol
