Not to continue by thread jacking, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd disagree with you about KITT being put into a Mustang.
I know there are. But many of fans of
Knight Rider didn't mind the Mustang.
Secondly, Val Kilmer as the voice of KITT?? Are you kidding me???
It was a circumstance that couldn't be avoided. You see, originally, KITT was going to be voiced by Will Arnett. However, after he had finished recording his lines to everyone's satisfaction, a conflict of interest came up because he was the distinctive voice heard on General Motors car and truck commercials, but K.I.T.T. is a Ford vehicle. So, they had to recast with the next available actor, who was Val Kilmer. Besides, I didn't have any problem with it. And some KR fans actually like Val Kilmer voicing the newer KITT.
Oh and then there's your "sleek and stealthly" comment. Is that what you call this:
Anyone who is a KR fan will know that Super Pursuit Mode has been used strictly as an emergency use or has in a majority of the time when the mission is near completed in an episode. Your picture doesn't count because KITT isn't in SPM all the time because it does tax itself on KITT's systems. It's the same reason why you don't see KITT in the original series driving around in SPM all the time. In fact, if you pay attention to the pilot episode for the newer KR series, KITT had to stop for fuel up after picking up Mike and had been using SPM for an extended period of time just to get to Las Vegas to pick Mike up. Seriously, that's Basic KR 101. But the point of this statement is that 99% of the other time, TOS KITT looked like a normal Trans-Am and the newer KITT looks like a normal Mustang. My comment of KITT being low profile/stealthy didn't mean ALL the time, only a majority of the time. When a cop is undercover, he doesn't wear his badge outside his clothes all the time, only when his job is near completed and is about to arrest a bad guy or in a case of emergency.
And for TKR, the reason why a majority of the why most TKR fans dislike it is because it didn't include Michael and KITT (until the last episode, where KITT is seen as a memory core and Michael turns up at his grave to meet the group), and the fact that Fords were used in that production was because in the original KR series, after the first season, Pontiac requested that the production to no longer refer to KITT as a Trans-Am because they had people coming to their lot asking to get the "Knight Rider car" only to discover that the mods seen in the show were not included. As a subsequent result, Pontiac refused to allow a Pontaic product to be used for KR2000 (so a Mitsubishi was heavily modded to look similar to Pontiac's Banshee prototype, and subsequently has appeared in other productions).
Sorry, I just happen to be a long time KR fan.
Now, back to topic.
