Limited Run Danny's Star Lord leather coat, *NEW SPOTS OPENED*

Re: Star Lord leather long coat *FIRST RUN FULL*

Man.... I really feel like I am missing out on something special happening here. This is just flawless. I have a tingly feeling in my upper body just looking at those last update picks of the raised jacket details.... I need to find money to get in on a future run somehow. IMO, this is one of the most exciting projects happening on the RPF. Dannylopez, you deserve some type of medal. Or cookies. Or a cookie medal. Just outstanding work.

Re: Star Lord leather long coat *FIRST RUN FULL*

Very interested if you have any available slots?

Edit, I was baffled by the measurement chart, but I see the explanation now thanks!

Re: Star Lord leather long coat *FIRST RUN FULL*

This is the new front, I made the template myself, completely stitch-free. Notice the details in the sleeve, that's something that the hot toys figure doesn't have, we added it thanks to all of you that sent me feedback and impossible-to-take screen caps of the coat used in the movie ;)

Also the shoulder and arm pieces are fully detachable, so it's easier to incorporate the coat in your everyday clothes.

Will the red strip along the top of the shoulders be added? Not the pauldron, but the sewn-down strip? Do you know how accurate the hardware is? Are the snaps flat or rounded? Getting very excited for these!

I'll take that cookie medal for sure!

I can't find the red strip, do you have a reference pic? the golden snaps are rounded and they are right above the buttons, which are placed right below separately. By "hardware" do you mean the raised pattern? I spent several days designing those and kept it as close as I could, in both dimentions and shapes.

Soulinertia posted this image in another thread - you can see a panel sewn along the top of the shoulder and down onto the sleeve:

By hardware I meant the snaps, buttons, rivets, D-rings etc. Do you know how close they are to the original sizes/shapes?

Again, great work - can't wait to see the first finished ones! Thanks Danny,

Douglas

We are not including that part on this coat, I saw several different pics (it was mostly based in the hot toys figure) and there seems to be small differences among the coats used in screen, as it often occurs with a piece with this amount of details. When the movie gets out in November if that piece is seen in the screen I'll definitely look into adding that. The hardware is tricky but we're keeping it as close as we can. For example, the coat has this small hooks in the side. Eventhough we couldn't find the exact ones I still used hooks with the same function so you can actually use them as it was intended. I think that's the bigger difference though, I kept it as close as we could. It's not 100% accurate, but I'd be confortable placing it above 90%.

That's cool about the hooks! We can always swap them down the road if we ID the original part.

I just watched the long coat scene and couldn't find a shot of the duster that didn't have the shoulders layered up from the chest to that top strip though. My copy of the film isn't perfect, but luckily I was able to find a clean representation of each shot from official trailers and featurettes:

Re: Star Lord leather long coat *FIRST RUN FULL*

I really love the way it stacks up to the top and that the seam of the sleeve is broken by the shoulder piece. It's reminiscent of the pauldron on the other side - just subtler! If I don't mind waiting longer for delivery, could this layering up to the top strip be done on my coat?

It's worth taking a look at the depth/sharpness of some of the patterns, too. The Hot Toys coat is a great reference for broad strokes, but it looks like there are some really deep, sharp embossings on the film coat and a bit more stitching on those front details than we'd thought.

Added! I'll start with the next run next week, as soon as I'm done with this one.

Re: Star Lord leather long coat *FIRST RUN FULL*

Got the PM - thanks!!!

Looks like shoulder layering is done correctly on the Hot Toys coat as well - it's just hard to see in most angles! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1414329807.832230.jpg

There's a strap on the prototype that goes at an angle up to the collar which should just be a stitched down layer with another layer on the top to create the top edge. The new top shoulder strap that goes onto the sleeve is a third layer on top of that. Can the 2nd run have the shoulder built up that way?

Re: Star Lord leather long coat *FIRST RUN FULL*

Any chance of some pictures of the finished jacket?

Re: Star Lord leather long coat *FIRST RUN FULL*

I'm starting to send the first coats already, if you haven't completed your payment and you'll be needing them for halloween, please complete your payment in the next 12 hours so I can send them on time.

Any chance of some pictures of the finished jacket?

I'll take them as soon as I can! I had an accident with my phone before I could upload them but I already uploaded some pics of the front, the back as I said was fully redesigned based in the new captures we had and has got a ton of detail. I'll be buying a phone tomorrow to show you guys. If you liked the back in the prototype, you'll LOVE the new one.

Amazing reference for the shoulders, stitching, seams, and stamping! Danny, any way you can use these to influence some of those design tweaks in the second run?

Dying to see a picture of the latest version!

Re: Star Lord leather long coat *SENDING FIRST RUN*

Hi everyone!

I'm almost done with this first run so I'll go through the interested people in the second run VERY soon. Right now I still don't have a phone but I'm getting a new one tonight so I'll set something up and take as many pics as I can. Since I don't have a phone I can only answer your pms at night when I get back, so if you send something please be patient, I'll answer as soon as possible!

Were you able to take a few pics of the coat?

I'm getting a new phone tonight! I'm dying to show you the new pics, I really am, I think you'll love them! Not having a phone is a huge bummer.

If he doesn't get a chance I'll post pics of mine suited up :)

I'd LOVE to see your pics!

Interested here.

Dude, are you kidding me? That's AWESOME stuff! You have no idea of what I went through to get the pattern right. It seems like the pattern is pretty much what I have, I'd just have to adjust the placement of the figures a bit. I'd definitely incorporate as much as I can from that in the next run though. The color looks a bit different, I'm assuming this is the screen used? Looks almost orange instead of the deep wine red that we saw in the featurettes and in the Hot Toys figure. Seems like they were showing the most weathered version of the coat they had. It's pretty cool.

Re: Star Lord leather long coat *SENDING FIRST RUN*

That's just lighting - it's some pretty impressive reference of the screen hero coat straight from the source! Can your tailer/cobbler/leatherworker (?) do those back and forth serger type stitches that appear on it in places, or would that be more difficult than his current approach?

Can't wait to see how far they've come!!!
