Dan Brown's "The Lost Symbol"? Any gossip yet?

Gone but not forgotten.
Anyone here working on it? Do we have anything juicy yet? The last good thing I heard was that Brown was writing the screenplay himself.

I can't wait to see the Masonic Pyramid! That promises to be a really cool prop!

Should be a good movie. The temple better be cool as hell, i agree.

I had thought the book had to do with the code sculpture at the fbi or cia, don't recall which, but it wasn't part of it.

I read it when it first came out...

I felt the ending was poor - no where near as good as Angels & Demons nor Da Vinci Code. It's a more visual ending, so hipefully the movie will convey that better.

What do you guys think of the whole Noetic science aspect?

It really bowled me over, because I suddenly realized that pretty much ALL of the coolest things I've ever done, were accomplished by the methods described, but I had no idea I was doing it at the time. :eek

I've read the book. Dan Brown's previous books were either about Langdon and some mysterious society to uncover or about a conspiracy in some branch of the US government. This book is a like a mash-up of those themes.
Just as in the Da Vinci code, Langdon and some woman are chased by authorities and a crazy murderer (who is also some kind of freak) while they run from location to location chasing clues to the mystery, only that this time, the authorities chasing them are linked to some kind of government conspiracy .. that is the mystery.
We have seen this before. Therefore, I thought that the book felt redundant, and I think that a movie would also be perceived so by the general public.
There is one other aspect, though: I think the book makes good recruitment material for the Freemasons, and I suppose a movie will do so even more.

I read the da vinci code and thought it was OK. I thought the bad guys were just too close behind them the whole time. Never felt the tension.

Then read angels and demons WAY better book. Loved every minute of it. excellent read.

read The lost symbol last year. figured out the villain about 2/3 the way in and then just didnt care. never finished the last chapter or so.

I'd have to read it again to be able to answer. I read it when it came out so it's been a year or so.

Read the Lost Symbol in one sitting and I liked it as much as the first two. I had no idea they were thinking of turning it into a movie! I remember seeing The Da Vinci Code before reading the book, but loving the book much better. With Angels & Demons I was pretty ticked off in the first five minutes because of how different it was from the book. As a film, it was decent... but I would have been more impressed had I not read the book first. Will still go see The Lost Symbol though!
