Hi everyone. I hate that this has to be my first ever thread on the RPF, but I believe this information needs to get out to the community. If the mods think this thread to be inappropriate or, simply put, "just beating a dead horse", please take it down. Anyway, if anybody is not aware of member DamnGoodPaul, he was recently banned from the forum for incorporating a fair share of somebody else's Amazing Spiderman pattern into his own. This other member was MCL34N, whose ASM pattern is(in mine and many other members' opinions) the most accurate and awesome ASM pattern out there. BTW, MCL34N gave me his permission to start this thread. It was assumed that Paul had MCL34N's whole ASM pattern, but this was never proven. Well, now that's changed...

So here's how the story goes:

One of my friends(a fellow nerd), was browsing on youtube and found a video made by "TheAmazingReplica". The video showed how to print and assemble an ASM costume with a custom made pattern. When I finally looked at the video a few days later, the print in the video had an eery resemblence to DamnGoodPaul's pattern, so I was a bit concerned. My friend told me that the maker of the video was offering two ASM pattern files, his own and a "free bonus" pattern(made by, as he put it, an "unknown artist") for sale for $25. There was a download link in the video description to buy them. My friend decided to buy them, and I asked him for pictures of the patterns once he got them(at this point, I was very suspicious). And what do you know, one pattern is DamnGoodPaul's and the other, "free bonus" pattern was MCL34N's! I mean, I've seen his pattern enough on this forum to identify it.

Anyway, I just thought more members should be aware of this if you are not already. I am not sure if I am allowed to post the youtube link here, so I won't for the time being. If anyone knows that you are allowed to do this, please tell me. It's really a shame that Paul is doing this. I'm not sure what we can do at this point, though, so that is where you guys come in. Any ideas you may have to stop Paul once and for all would be appreciated. Maybe we can load his videos with incriminating comments? This may deter any potential customers. Just an idea.

AND IF YOU ARE IN ANY WAY TEMPTED TO BUY MCL34N'S PATTERN THROUGH PAUL's YOUTUBE LINK, I JUST WANT TO SHARE THAT THE MCL34N PATTERN PAUL HAS IS ACTUALLLY MCL34N'S FIRST VERSION OF THE PATTERN. THIS VERSION HAD SOME PROBLEMS, INCLUDING BEING TOO DARK TO SEE A LOT OF THE HONEYCOMB. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THE PATTERNS OFF OF PAUL, AS THIS IS NOT WHY I MADE THIS THREAD:darnkids.

Thank you and I am open to any ideas you have.

I'm not entirely sure if there's anything we can do about this either, but I'm glad you posted this. Thanks for bringing this to everyone's attention.

Good detective skills man! McLean is a great guy and doesn't deserve that kind of crap. Thanks for the tip and merry Christmas

Hey everyone,

So I am new to this site and had a horrible experience with Paul.
I commissioned him to build me a suit for last Halloween at a hefty price tag.
He was unable to reach the deadline, and was going to send me a suit that I was told I could mail back to him to fix. I decided to let him hold onto the suit.
It was sent to me and was very poor quality - the lens were glued incorrectly and partially falling off, the material was so cheap it tore on the back when I was putting it on, two of the zipper broke, the mask was removable and looked horrible when "attached to the suit," lastly the stitching was so poor that is unraveled under pressure of just wearing the suit. I sent the suit back to him and he agreed to fix everything. Needless to say 6 weeks later the suit came back with minimal improvements. I asked him for a full refund and mailed the suit back to him. He sent me a b.s reply stating he will issue me a refund in parts cause he doesn't have the money. Well I am not a bank, and luckily paid on Paypal with a credit card. I called American Express got a full refund, they are investigating for fraud. Hopefully, he gets what he deserves.

Avoid Paul like the Plague....

Sorry to hear about your expereince, it sucks when you have your heart set on something and it totally blows up in your face. Glad to hear he's being investigated. Good move with AMEX, I ALWAYS pay with a credit card just for the simple fact the good people at PayPal aren't very sympathetic with the buyer end of the buisness. I learned that the hard way. Hopefully Paul learns his lesson....

sorry to here of your suit kash605 there is lots of people out there ripping good fans off take your cash and no product not many people of there word left

People that buy from him should continue their Paypal claims and credit card reversals so he can get busted quick for fraud!

Hey Guys this is my first post. I Bought Damngoodpauls Print on October 1st. He promised it before the 31st. Same story here. After that he has send me emails sporadically telling me he would send them adding an extra mask print. I asked for a refund by december. Im still waiting for the refund. Not sure how to make my paypal claim. If any of you guys can help me out I would appreciate it.

Just file a dispute with Paypal (you can do this on your paypal homepage or you can call them as well). You might also contact your cc company and request a chargeback for item not delivered.
