Hi everyone. I hate that this has to be my first ever thread on the RPF, but I believe this information needs to get out to the community. If the mods think this thread to be inappropriate or, simply put, "just beating a dead horse", please take it down. Anyway, if anybody is not aware of member DamnGoodPaul, he was recently banned from the forum for incorporating a fair share of somebody else's Amazing Spiderman pattern into his own. This other member was MCL34N, whose ASM pattern is(in mine and many other members' opinions) the most accurate and awesome ASM pattern out there. BTW, MCL34N gave me his permission to start this thread. It was assumed that Paul had MCL34N's whole ASM pattern, but this was never proven. Well, now that's changed...
So here's how the story goes:
One of my friends(a fellow nerd), was browsing on youtube and found a video made by "TheAmazingReplica". The video showed how to print and assemble an ASM costume with a custom made pattern. When I finally looked at the video a few days later, the print in the video had an eery resemblence to DamnGoodPaul's pattern, so I was a bit concerned. My friend told me that the maker of the video was offering two ASM pattern files, his own and a "free bonus" pattern(made by, as he put it, an "unknown artist") for sale for $25. There was a download link in the video description to buy them. My friend decided to buy them, and I asked him for pictures of the patterns once he got them(at this point, I was very suspicious). And what do you know, one pattern is DamnGoodPaul's and the other, "free bonus" pattern was MCL34N's! I mean, I've seen his pattern enough on this forum to identify it.
Anyway, I just thought more members should be aware of this if you are not already. I am not sure if I am allowed to post the youtube link here, so I won't for the time being. If anyone knows that you are allowed to do this, please tell me. It's really a shame that Paul is doing this. I'm not sure what we can do at this point, though, so that is where you guys come in. Any ideas you may have to stop Paul once and for all would be appreciated. Maybe we can load his videos with incriminating comments? This may deter any potential customers. Just an idea.
AND IF YOU ARE IN ANY WAY TEMPTED TO BUY MCL34N'S PATTERN THROUGH PAUL's YOUTUBE LINK, I JUST WANT TO SHARE THAT THE MCL34N PATTERN PAUL HAS IS ACTUALLLY MCL34N'S FIRST VERSION OF THE PATTERN. THIS VERSION HAD SOME PROBLEMS, INCLUDING BEING TOO DARK TO SEE A LOT OF THE HONEYCOMB. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THE PATTERNS OFF OF PAUL, AS THIS IS NOT WHY I MADE THIS THREAD:darnkids.
Thank you and I am open to any ideas you have.
