Dagobah Cave Vader Helmet

Got a Vader helmet casting a few weeks ago in a trade. Came with some decent shoulder armor and I said why not. The dome is damaged pretty bad but it's in the right area for me to cut around it for this build so it really doesn't matter. The face is pretty decent. Looks like a rubies or don post recast.

Sorry to bounce on yall right after the first post. Got 24 hour notice the next day that I was leaving for a last second detachment but i got back last night so all is well. Going to start chopping into this tomorrow!

To me this has the softness and "Rubies droop" of the face. I'm saying Rubies recast for this one.
Can't wait to see how this turns out!

BTW: there were two ways this scene was executed in TESB correct? First was a replica head of Hamill made to sit inside the helmet for when the faceplate explodes, and then the "bury Mark in the dirt" close up of him wearing the helmet, right?

That is what makes sense to me but I've never seen behind the scenes footage or heard any commentary from people who worked on the scene. This project isn't done very often so I didn't find much on it before hand.

I apologize for how long this has taken, butthe last few months have been insane for me. With the bulk of the face being cut out now, I can start marking where "melting drips" will be sculpted on the exterior

Threw on the drips with 5 minute epoxy and a toothpick. Same way I apply liquid mask to my fett helmets. It's meticulous but always comes out perfect! Have some areas I want to sharpen up and some that need thickening before primer, but it's starting to look like a cave vader helmet!

You can definitely see them in the second and third reference pictures I posted. It's the little things that make these props so wonderful. But you already know that

Thickened up the walls, sharpened the mouth up, threw on some texture to compliment the drips from the explosion, and cut off and reshaped the eyebrow to look closer to how I wanted it.
