Custom missile launcher for ship

Anyone have any suggestions on functional spring propelled missile launchers to add to a 5 foot long or so custom ship. I was thinking perhaps something off a toy line if something is not available for models or using modified airsoft guns cut down. Anyone have any ideas on things to consider.

Would a model rocket work? They make some real small ones that use A engines, but that's obviously for outdoor use.

Otherwise, I would think a nerf gun setup could work. A lot of nef gun "bullets" resemble missles to being with so I would think you could make them more realistic with a minimal amount of work.

I'm in the research phase of a solenoid operated nerf ball launcher to recreate the CGI "Grenade Launcher" under the licence plate Disney put on my original Horace (evil Herbie) car. The hardest bit so far is finding a set of valves which close quickly enough that I don't need a secondary tank with a pressure regulator to avoid draining the main air tank. Once I have a part list I'll be sure to share here. A neat little DIY nerf thing with a small CO2 paint ball tank can be found here:

I wouldn't use the same hardware, but the idea is pretty well there.

Nate from Star Cars has a full model rocket shop to build the little rockets he fires out of the back of his Batmobile, I'm not as fond of that route because it's more dangerous and has a few more expendable parts per shot but I could ask him about what tiny scale bits are available.

Cheers
