Custom Denix Thompson M1921/1928 with lots of real parts in a violin case!

I see so pretty close yours too then, yes those are the exterior measurements
My replica is pretty much spot on the original Thompson and if fits very well I must say
Here is a manufacture label and the case before converting it

Thanks again, really appriciate it!
Much obliged!

Unfortunately, due to legal reasons regarding what can and can't be owned without special permission in the US, the modern reproduction Thompsons are longer than the real ones from the 1920's-1940's. To own one that matches the original specs would mean licensing/background checks/tax stamps as a short barrel rifle (not to mention it's an automatic, meaning another special license and making it super expensive to buy in the first place). Such are the issues with US Federal firearms laws...

Me and my girlfriend was lucky enough to have a photoshoot with my Thompson in a 1930s car, I got a Thompson 20 round stick magazine instead of the drum and she has a deactivated S&W revolver, it was really fun!

Just finished my Thompson M1921/1928 sub machine gun, based on a Denix copy with original walnut wood stock and pistolgrips, Cutts compensator, Lyman rear sight, fire control switch, safety switch and pivot spring
Chicago made vintage leather covered violin case modified for the Thompson with green velvet interior, dummy .45 ACP rounds and reproduction cartridge boxes
Featured in countless movies and tv shows including Public Enemies, The untouchables, Dick Tracy, Boardwalk Empire, The Godfather and the list goes on

Hope you guys like it!

Awesome work! Did the shells fit the Dennis drum? I’m looking at doing the same, but without case, how did you attach the trigger grip? Looks like a real one and not the standard Denis one, have you got a link to the grips you used?

Thank you outlaw28! You can put .45 ACP rounds in the drum but there is no mechanism to hold them in place, I modified my Thompson to accept real Thompson stick mags it rust require some sanding
Cool! It’s the Denix lower reciever but I milled of the bad castings of the fire selector, safety selcetor and magazine release lever and replaced them with original parts
The front grip you can get at IMA I belive, the rear pistol grip and stock is original british used

Love the sepia pics(y)(y)...I know that the background is not from the era...but that's just me nit picking:D;)
Thank you so much joberg! Yes I know, it was a car show and the only place to get the pictures taken

Thank you Funky! Hope you find the parts you need and make your own

I’ve been thinking about doing an Untouchables/prohibition collection. This is very inspiring!

I noticed the old man in the background and while his jacket isn't period correct, he sure is.

Absolutely love the pics. What an awesome opportunity and you both rocked it.

If you have the patience, money and ability as a gunsmith to tweak with it to get it running well, there are a few companies that make blank firing only select fire "non guns" that almost anyone can own.
Here's my Indianapolis Ordnance M1A1 on a Auto Ordnance Bridgeport lower. Its all been refinished. This will shoot proprietary blanks in full auto!

And if you just tune it out of the box without mounting the sights (which you gotta find someone with the right rivet dies for the rear sights), you can use it as a Aliens Pulse rifle as the real props yanked front and rear sights off the blank adapted M1A1s they used.
