Speaking of the new film, I haven't seen what the weapons there look like. Does Conan yield just one particular sword (like the movies), or does he just use whatever's available at the time (like the books).
I used to own an Albion Atlantean Destroyer. I miss it so. I definitely can't afford to replace it though.
I don't don't think Jason Momoa's face looks enough like the character of Conan for him to play the part. Plus, he starred on a B Sci-Fi TV show with C acting. Also, he's not bulky/buff enough for the role. That said, I'll still see the new movie but will go in with very low expectations.
The cross guard on that sword is a rip off of Kurgan's sword from the movie Highlander. Yes I can see the ALL of the differences. I'm still 100% convinced that the swordsmith used Kurgan's sword for inspiration.
Seriously that sword looks too big for him, he's just too small. Sorry but for me Arnie set the standard and he doesn't live up to it. Following literal interpretations of a book are not always the best for movies. I'm afraid this movie will bury the Conan movie franchise and we wont see another Conan movie in our life time.
There is a mistake in the Movie blog, they refer to the swords as "Jody Samson’s iconic designs"
They are the creation of production designer Ron Cobb, Jody made the swords.

I have a little hope for the new film, but it will never be as good as Arnolds.
BTW........
Jody made the blades for both, but don't forget about Tim Huchthausen! He sculped the wax for the Atlantean hilt, while Jody did the wax for the fathers.... all from Ron's designs of course!
