cornsyrup as a stable liquid in props?

I'm trying to come up with a liquid to use in props that isn't that expensive and won't evaporate and I was thinking of corn syrup since its semi clear at least and I was wondering what you guys thought? It also helps for this one prop as it's slightly thick.

any food product will have adverse effects whether it be separation of the ingredients, rot or mold or clouding.... It is cheap but if your after longevity, look into man made products such as synthetic oils or silicone oil.

True. I'm hoping to find a happy medium between cost and quality since i'm not going to use a lot of it.

What about some form of glycerin?
Will it be sealed into something?

Oh, never mind, I see you asked about evaporation so I guess it isn't sealed up....
glycerin gathers water from the air, so I guess that wouldn't work either....

Yeah. I plan on sealing them. A few are bottles for fallout but for those i may just use mouthwash and replenish it as it evaporates as the wild colors are already used in mouthwash. I have a container i'm tempted to use for medical gel other than it is resin i may need. It has that nice slightly thick look to it. The others are for medicines and such in vials and i just might use paints for that or maybe that stuff they use in miniature gaming to replicate water (I need that for my shot glass and martini glass too). Figures i tossed out a container of the stuff months ago when i had no idea what to do with it.

Well i found something on amazon to use to make fake water so i can probably tint it and use it for stuff. its 16 oz for 20.00 though x.x Too bad white glue wouldn't work lol. I need it for another project and its cheap. At least mineral oil is cheap I think. Too bad rubbing alcohol evaporates as it is dirt cheap.

What about using floral resin? It hardens to look like water... typically used in artifical plant vases to look like there's water in them.

Well, if you ARE sealing them you shouldn't have a problem with evaporation. I mean you have rubbing alcohol in a container with a screw on lid for what, ten years? More?
Without it evaporating, I mean? Open the lid and it will be gone in a few days!
I would avoid food products though as, if it does leak, you may be attracting pests...

There are some great resins, but I was thinking you wanted it to flow inside a clear container to look like it was fluid filled. What do folks use inside their TOS Hypospray ampules? (Or heck TNG ones too, for that matter!)

The mouth wash is a good idea as its at the dollar store lol. Plus i can hide a small cork inside the containers on top of the lids for extra safety. i think i'll go with mouth wash.
