I've had two Homelite XL's sitting in the garage forever and after getting to see a converted saw at the Texas prop party this weekend, I decided it was time to do something with these bad boys. I'll attempt to document the process as thoroughly as possible but no promises. I usually stop taking progress photos after a couple of days. :lol
First thing I did, obviously, was gut the body and clean it up. THIS TOOK FOREVER. The second one wasn't so bad, but the first one had so much dried up oil, grease, dirt and dust all over it I was starting to think I would never get it clean. I eventually did(for the most part) and got started on the mods.
I used a hacksaw to cut the majority of the handle off and then went in with a dremel (where you see the white lines) and cut away the remainder:
Filed the rough edges down flush and that was it.
That's pretty much it so far. I got the band clamps today:
Tomorrow I'm starting the metal plate for the top of the EDII saw and then the red riser for the AOD saw.
