That sucks. I remember seeing that thread when I was still watching season one. Now that I'm finally caught up on season two I was looking for it again.

Right now I'm wondering about one of Kiera's flashbacks to her teen years with her mom and sister.

She seemed 'off', not real in it. I'm wondering if it's because they planted that memory or changed the version of it she remembers.

Also - books being contraband. wow.
 
I saw the first five episodes from season 1... but I found it somewhat boring, to be just like another crime show with some sci-fi elements.
I could see some potential though, in that there is a longer underlying story with apparent secrets to be revealed ... but there wasn't enough to keep me excited.
Does it get better over time? Should I give it another go?
 
I started watching at the very end of the first season and into the second season and had to go back to catch up. Short answer is yes - but what hooked me was not what I agreed to being just another crime show with some exploration of what time traveling rules they're going to play with - it was more the unique tension of having the protagonist on the wrong side of the issues and wondering if she'll ever see the light.

Here's how I see it, without spoilers - Given what the future ends up being like (not sure how much you have seen so I won't describe it) and Keira's position as an enforcer who's chasing terrorists who just killed thousands of people - it all seems straight forward. But as they slowly reveal the future and who Alex is you start wondering - what if the terrorists are right and just used bad methods because they had no other options? What if they now have another method to fight the unstoppable evil of the future - Time travel... and who is behind it makes it even more fascinating... - but what if not all of them are really interested in the right reasons and are more interested in the bad methods? - will they ever be able to convince Keira if some of them are just truly bad people?

And the third season is more along the lines of what are the consequences of time travel and what really happens if it gets into the wrong hands - and a decision that Keira potentially will have to make... all the while finding out more about her past (what I really want to discuss with someone) that makes her much more complicated while revealing even more scary ways of the future.

So - if that sort of ethical/political/mystery/character driven choices intrigue interests you, it's much more than cops and bad guys. :)
 
Like the reimagined BSG and real life the characters in Continuum are not just black and white or good and evil. People exist in shades of grey. There is the potential for both good and bad in all of us. The original BSG for instance seemed inhabited by the seemingly truly good altruistic humans and the completely bad Cylons. Keira is willing to do bad things to achieve her aims of a perceived world that is right just as Liber8 is willing to do the same. The lines seem to have blurred now. Are Liber8's members as evil as they were made out to be?

Yeah, I think Liber8 has a mix of people, like any rebellion - some in it have ethics and principles and others are just all about the cause and anything goes, ends justify the means where as others just like to be part of something or have personal vendettas... And the cops and free lancers are somewhat principled somewhat just following orders. Just about every war is like that, various levels of good and bad people get involved for so many different, often personal reasons and decide how far they will go based off of all sorts of factors.

It's good to see that drama writing is starting to reflect this reality. When people see any conflict as having good guys and bad guys those who make money off of it are the only ones that win.

I think that for the most part in Continuum we have good people doing the right things for the wrong reasons and bad people doing the wrong thing for the right reasons.

The last episode I watched I was chuckling at the name of the evil bio-chem corporation - SONMANTO.... Not coincidental that it's so close to MONSANTO, I'm sure. And to see Kiera realize for the first time that those who 'cured her' actually created the bio-weapon to begin with; it gave me hope that she's close to catching on. If her inplant even lets her.
