Conductivity of Resin

Ok, I want to imbed LEDs in some clear resin for something I am sculpting. My question is should I be concerned about a short if the wires should become exposed somehow.

Any info you guys have would be great

I dont believe so.
Resin is kind of like plastic, so its more of an insulator to my knowledge, than a conductor.
I dont think you'll have any problems with it at all.

You shouldn't have a problem but if you wanted to be extra safe why not slip the wires and LED contacts into some heat shrink tubing for an extra layer of insulation.

My wife has worked with resins as part of her A&P (Airframe & Powerplant) course and she couldn't foresee any problems especially with low voltage use.

I did not think I would have a problem but it never hurts to get a couple opinions on the matter.

Thanks for the info.

Well, I'm an Avionics tech and solid resin does not conduct electricity. It is an insulator.

Invicta, tell your wife to go for another career. Aviation is not all its cracked up to be. Working holidays, weekends, and nights. Yeagh it pretty much sucks. Oh, lets not forget the pay. Since 9/11 the airlines have carte blanch in screwing its workers. My pay has gone bakwards. A raise. Whats that?
George :(

I think she's already considering a change, but thanks for another techs perspective.
