Completed! Wheems project -batteries not included

This is looking really good!

What printer are you using? A Form 2? Also, how did you set up the antennae lights? Where do you get tiny tubing like that? Syringes?
This is an FDM print. Was having problems with my printer so I had it made at 3D hubs. The tubing is a syringe. Couldn't think of any other place to get tiny tubing.

Where do you get the controllers for this? and how do you program. This is the part that has always challenged me.

Nicely done. Always loved these guys.

Controllers and electronics are not my strength either. It was a great exercise to learn some stuff. The controller is a micro maestro by Pololu. super easy interface and inexpensive, but I would guess that the control is limited vs other solutions.

Thanks for the info! I need to get my printer back off my brother and start playing with it.

Testing out a magnetically operated on/off switch. Thinking of mounting inside the dome and activating with magnet embedded in nameplate or key chain. Perhaps ambitious and over the top, but wanted to explore the possibility...

I like the idea of not having a physical switch. You could also look at using an accelerometer chip which has a "wake from sleep" type output, that way you could just tap on his nose to wake him. That or a captive touch pad hidden behind the surface.

McMaster has lots of "Miniature stainless steel tubing", granted if you only need an inch or two, cheap syringes are a better source.

Thanks for the ideas and source for tubing. I might play around with a few options to see what works best.

Let me know if you need any reference for the underside details, I see you left it mostly flat, but there should be stuff under there..

Thanks. Any information would help. I still have more details to finish on the dome and need to detail the chassis. I’ve added some since this print, but need to finish.

Im fired up to try this also...but..Im old school. So I would try vaccum forming it.

Did you make yorus ROUND? the kit, molded to death as it is, has it more oval.

Wheems actually is oval. He is longer front to back than side to side. So that's not a product of it being remolded.

Thanks!! Just to clarify....., I just said the kit had it more oval....and it has been molded to death. While molding something will distort it, I would not think it would elongate in one direction. Poorly worded on my part.

I modeled him oval like the original.

I think I am finally done with done details. Just wanted to post some pics to see if anyone has any feedback or constructive criticism. On to the chassis and feet next....
