Completed: The Amazing Spider-Man Costume

Hey guys! I've always been a huge Spider-Man fan, and I'll be posting my progress in this thread for my Amazing Spider-Man suit. I know I'm really behind, but I figured I'd finish this thing before TASM2 Premier and make a night of it. I'll be going with the zentai method, and then modifying it as I go. I've already got my suit, so I'll start by showing you how I will be doing the rest. As always, constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated!

I'm starting with the ZentaiZone Amazing Spider-Man suit as a base. On it's own, it looks pretty good, but needs more detail. So, I added the honeycomb pattern on with a silicone potholder like SpiderSparrow used in his build. I added black honeycomb on the blue areas and red on the red. I just finished it tonight, here's what I've got:



The Mask

For the mask, I ended up making my own faceshell. I used one of these cheap Spider-Man half masks from Walmart and cut off the webbing:



For the lenses, I used the Amazing Spider-Man sunglasses and did a little dremel surgery to clean them up. Then, I glued the lenses down with hot glue, and inserted the faceshell.


Here's the final product after honeycombing:

I can't wait to see your Shooters. If you need some help with the electronics I can give you a hand or at least some good hand drawings for the diagram and supply you with some nice small momentary switches ( I have a bunch )

Big update! With the help of my friend vidman, I will have some sweet web shooters, complete with lights and sound! My spring break is next week, so you can expect pics as soon as they arrive!

Hi, i own a zentai suit like yours from zentaizone as well!

I see your mask has the same problem as mine, there seems to be a blob popping out at the forehead area, any ideas how to get rid of that ?

Well, once I'm wearing it, it stretches out more. That head it's on is really small. Other than a face shell, however, I don't think there's a real way to fix it.

Thanks Lukester! I got the honeycomb idea from spidersparrow. Credit where credit is due, haha. Vid, I am really excited about the applications of your sound units! I'll post an update when I can!

I will be attending a local convention at UGA on Friday in my unfinished suit, so you guys will get a sneak peak of the full suit after I post some convention pics! Let me know what you guys think!

Those shooters will look AWESOME when your done with them , how are the electronics working out for you so far? If you have any questions shoot a pm my way. I have some new battery packs that might be better for the sound card, more compact to wrap around your wrist.. shoot me a pm and I will send them to you free . I'll make them plugable into the 9 v connector.....

The convention last night was great! Even ran into some guys from the 501st that put me to shame, haha. The suit still needs the shooters and a face shell, but this was a great test run! What do you guys think?

Hey guys! I know I've been dormant for a while, but with finals coming around and such, free time is hard to come by. I'm still planning on finishing the suit, but it looks like there isn't a midnight showing in my area, so I guess that idea's shot, haha.

Web Shooters:

For the web shooters, I decided to do 'em like Peter would: on a budget. I pieced the body of the shooters together using some plastic caps, lids, and old Lego elements. Then, I painted 'em up:



Then, to be able to wear them on the suit, I rigged up a wrist strap. It attaches with Velcro and has a small anchor for a rare earth magnet to attach to.



I'll be wearing the wrist strap under the suit, and then the Shooters attach on the outside:



I'll post pictures of the updated mask and newly acquired faceshell once it's finished!

Finished the faceshell, but I have one more final to finish up tomorrow, so I'll post an update as soon as I can! I've also started work on the gloves and finishing those off, so stay tuned...
