Comic Style Symbiote Spider-Man Suit - Progress Thread

So I've been wanting to make a Spidey suit for months, and seeing everyone on RPF gave me the motivation to finally get started.

I've always loved the comic style symbiote suit from the 1980's, and there's no one here in Perth who wears one. We have a couple of Spidey cosplayers, one who does the Ultimate suit, and the other who does Scarlet Spider.

I'm using an Orhadar pattern and TJack lenses (which have yet to arrive), and the dye sub print just arrived! It looks amazing, I can't wait to get started putting it together.

Along with making the suit, I'm also shedding the extra weight and body fat to look like the perfect Spider-Man.
3 gym sessions and 2 Personal Training sessions a week for 3 months, along with clean eating is sure to make for some great results!

Always liked that costume, will be watching this build.
Also good luck with the working out. I lost almost 20lbs to wear my Superman costume. Working out is the easy part, you'll find that sticking to the diet is what's hard, but stick with it and the results will be worth it.

Thanks man, I hope I don't disappoint!

I'm super pumped to be starting this build finally (the waiting was killing me!), and the working out should be fine. I've got about 30 pounds to lose before I'm at ideal weight, so it's going to be nice to lose it.

My eating's always been pretty good, but cutting sugar out of my diet is going to be the hardest part.
For now, I'm sticking to fish and chicken, vegetables, brown rice, oats and sweet potato/pumpkin.

Next step is to make a custom faceshell, so I'll post pics as I get it done!

Good luck man with the suit and your exercise routine. I'm hoping to start my thread on my Miles Morales Spidey-Suit build, but I'm going to wait until I get a few more photos to share.

Thanks Guardian!

I figured I should probably start the thread, otherwise I'll get most of the way through my build and forget to start it!
It also keeps me accountable and motivated to succeed :)

Haha, no problem. I'm fine with accountable, but I also want to get some screenshots of the re-sizing portion of the dye sublimation pattern. I haven't really seen a tutorial on it, so I think it'd be pretty beneficial. That and the fact I'm still waiting on that photo editing software to be delivered. I decided to got with "PaintShop Pro X6 Ultimate" it's gotten better reviews than the new "Photoshop Elements 12". I just want to say that I'm not in favor of one more than the other. In the end it comes down to personal preference.

Luckily, I'm the same height as Orhadar's pattern, so there was no resizing needing to be made.
In checking the print, it seems like everything should fit perfectly.

So to keep everyone updated, I've finally found someone who's game enough to put my suit together here in Aus.

I've got no sewing ability, and lycra is too complex for my wife to work with. All the people I approached to do it were experienced cosplayers and costumers, but none of them were game enough to touch it for fear of screwing up.

I've also dropped a waist size already, and am well on my way to reaching my bodyweight goals by the time the suit is completed!

Well done! Glad you haven't lost any enthusiasm

Definitely not, this is something I've always wanted to do, no point stopping now!

I'm still waiting on my lenses and frames from TJack to arrive (DAMN YOU international postage!), but it means that I've spent more time working out and eating right to meet those goals while I wait.

Working out 6 days a week is definitely helping get there fast, though. I've gotta go find my belts in storage tonight, since most of my pants don't fit properly anymore.

Just a small update for everyone, on Sunday I took my suit down to the lady who's going to be putting it together for me. She's quite busy, but I should see the suit put together by the end of February at the latest. She'll be taking some photos as she progresses, so I'll upload them when I can.

Until then, I've got a month to complete my own faceshell, since it would take 6-10 weeks for one to arrive from overseas.
Still waiting on my lenses too =/

Make sure to give us the updates too! I nearly forgot about this thread, but boy do I want to see it finished.
Good luck!

I'll definitely be keeping up with the updates, I can't wait myself!

I'm so excited to actually have the suit being put together and can't wait to finally put it all together!

Mine was finished being sewed last week. I'm super excited to even touch it haha.
Love the saturation of color in your print though. Came out great

Yeah, the print came out looking amazing, FoD do an great job. I'll be even more excited when my lenses finally arrive.

I just wish Australia wasn't so far away from the rest of the world, as posting things would be so much easier!

Fitness-wise, I've been going for almost a month and have lost 3kg and about 3 inches off my waist so far.
I don't know how much more weight I'm gonna actually lose, but I'm not worried because I'm gaining a lot of muscle while I burn the fat.

I'm gonna be one ripped Spidey by the time April comes around!
