I saw the Sculpt contest a couple of weeks ago while posting my Alien egg pics, started on the sculpt and then my internet fell into a hole, best way to describe it,but Its back now and I have made great progress in my sculpt of Crewman#6
I've always been able to draw,paint/airbrush,craft things...1/6 pvc/resin model builder quite well but when I discovered I was more a sculptor than all those things combined I was shocked...shocked I tell you. My Only focus has always been 1/1 scale sculpts...so far I've done busts of Ironman,Acid Batman,ABC Robot-"Battle Damage",Terminator Endoskeleton,King of Nothing/Hellboy,Marcus/Quetzalcoatl and the "Real" face of Darth Vader and his Bling. I've posted some of these busts on RPF and will post the rest soon.
It was suggested to me long ago I use Roma Plastilina med. and it has served me well on all of my sculpts.
I recently for the first time sculpted and posted on RPF my version of an ALIEN Egg about 6.5" tall and it was really a blast to do and well recieved and might I say,it looked Real....and I seeem to have been bitten by the Alien bug also 1/6 dosen't take near the clay a 1/1 does....I now have a whole new universe to create in...I Literally NEVER Thought of sculpting in Anything other than 1/1 till I did my egg my little alien egg.
Crewman#6 is a total conceptual departure for me in sculpting and a mixture of movie metaphores...those of us illumind in sci-fi will get the joke...I think the title is Funny as hell...(I actually put a little 6 on his right arm). Started with a cardboard egg about 2" in length for the head and went from there...crafting the body out of cardboard box leftovers, for the arms used the cardboard tube from a pants hanger then used the metal wire for reenforcement and the eyes are 4mm BBs....The funny thing is this sculpt started off as a desire to do just the helmet (pic 1) from Alien thats it...accept I've sculpted everything but.It has morphed from just a shoulders-up idea to what I think is a pretty cool scene.I guess the helmet will have to come later...All I have left to do is the righthand glove and wrist gadget.Should be done real soon.
AAAnnnnnda YES the hugger is anatomically correct the way H.R. designed it.That part was was a little strange to sculpt knowing what it based on.
I have taken a little "Ridley License" with my sculpt in the fact that my character is not 'Dallas' and he is not 'Cain' but another poor ******* that is about to have a reeeally bad day...so it does take place in the "ALIEN" multiiverse.
I am,to borrow a phrase TOTALLY STOKED at how this turned out.
Will post pics every couple of days.
Thank You for time and attention.
Hope you enjoy my vision of Crewman#6
......NUFF SAID......
I did not like the way my hugger turned out so I did another but I left the old in one to show the diff.
Enjoy...
