Does anyone know the style/make of jacket worn by both Flynn and Clu at Clu's creation?

I did not see a clear answer in the costume thread and did not wish to contribute to the theft of Jedifyfe's custom fig thread.

Thanks-

Doc

heres a picture of the type of jacket that i have thats the same style of the kind in the comic book TRON: betrayal. the kind in the movie though was alot different than the one in the comic. the one in the movie looked almost like the front was made out of some sort of like netted leather, which was the first time ive ever seen anything like that. so anyway. heres the jacket i have thats the one from the comic.

so its not 100% accurate due to the part where the line should be is on the wrong side, but other than that it works. if you want the name of the jacket i can give it to you.

Very cool. Distinct from the video game one as well. Was the ELF that wide in the movie?

In Knightsabre's pic above, that is perforated leather.
Quite simply, leather with lots of little 1.2mm (approx) holes in, just like it sounds.

The holes are to allow air-flow/ventilation when riding your motorcycle. I have a Frank Thomas jacket on the back of my chair right now that has perforated panels along the arms and the front.

This is a common feature on Summer bike jackets - Check out your local motorcycle shop.

The director's jacket may be styled after the comic, but it's not the one used in the movie.
Blackfeathers pointed this out in the costume thread.
Here are some "enhanced" screenshots of the Jacket worn by Kevin when Sam last saw him. Keep in mind it is the same jacket that he wore into the grid.
Notice there are no perforations or shoulder caps and the alpine stars jacket has no elbow pads where as the movie jacket does.

Here's the back of the Alpinestars NYC jacket.

FLynn's jacket in the real world and his jacket on The Grid are two seperate jackets.
His real worl jacket is not perforated, the jacket in The Grid is. The Alpine jacket is the correct "GRID" jacket

Great find, it's even better that it's an astar jacket it means I can mod it and use it for it's intended purpose too whilst riding.

Yeah, the only difference I see is that the screen jacket looks to have fully perforated arms, while the OTR jacket only has perf on the inner panel.

If I guess correctly the strip is probably that wide, for the most part you only see part of it but for a moment you can see most of it. It might tuck in to the jacket a bit and was perhaps sewn or attached about half an inch to an inch in from the zipper strip. It makes sense that it would be attached that way to me.

Though I saw the movie twice, I still can't be 100% because I saw the 3D version and found it slightly harder to make out minute details.

Hello. I'm new, and have been thinking about getting into making some Tron costume's myself.
Found something in relation to what you need as I want to make the same Flynn/Clu 'creation' outfit.
Been doing some browsing and came across this: Xelement B-9152 Armored Mens Vintage Leather Motorcycle Jacket

The only thing that's off a bit is the collar that I can think of right now. In the screencaps on this
thread, it seems to curve down a bit the closer it gets to the zipper? But in the film when Flynn is
on the grid, its similar to the one in the link I added, since there was a glowing strip on the
inside as well as down along the front.

Hope this helped! And goodluck.
