perhaps you fellas are the ones to ask! im working on a "Clint Eastwood" costume http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=74919 and am having some snags like the poncho and hat could you guys point me in the right direction and if you have any suggestions would be great too

Hollywoodprop sells them on eBay, where I got mine for a pretty darn good deal. (That's his seller name, too) That's Tuberius' poncho, as well.
If you search his other listings you'll most likely see the gun rig, hat, and the (in my opinion-lousy) vest. If not, keep your eye out for future listings, or you can contact him directly.
The hardest part about the hat is an accurate hat band, which if you search hard enough you can find, for around $65. Gasp. All you really have to do to find a hat is buy one (I found a used old Stetson) in the right color and reshape it. Buying an accurate hat with band varies from $125-$400 from various sellers.
I've had contact with both Larry from Hollywood props and Ron Martinez from Spaghetti Westerns, and they are both top-notch.

Yup. I guarantee Tiberius had his custom made some time ago. I just don't know from whom, yet.

Dear fellas,

I don’t normally answer forums, but there is a bunch of errors, and misnomers I see in this thread regarding Eastwoods gun, especially in the movie the Good the Bad and the Ugly…I would like to correct a few points if I may….

On the Tuco gun: You could swap parts…and maybe you would get a world beating pistol, but more than likely you would end up with an abortion of a handgun that would shoot sideways….And of course, the gun, like Eastwoods was a Hollywood conversion, not a amalgamation of parts from different guns.,,,,

Both guns were 1851 Navy Revolvers, 36’s….HOWEVER, they were reamed out to take the .38 caliber blanks available at that time…. Likewise, Eastwoods Model 29 masterpiece in the Dirty Harry movies were converted to .45 Long Colt because the blanks were far cheaper than (And at that time plentiful) .44mag blanks

Anyway, the Eastwood gun, was the 51 navy converted to .38, and although many of these guns were converted in the advent of cased ammo in the 1870’s, the real conversions were easy to spot….and didn’t look like the GBU guns with their black powder loading levers left in place…
Bottom line: Some of the worst Gaffs with firearms in movie history are in this movie….Just awful!!

As for the .36 caliber….Someone wrote, there has never been a .36 caliber….Well, depending how you look at it, .36 might have been the most popular handgun caliber of all time! .38 Caliber is actually .357 inches, hence .357 magnum, which is of course just a lengthened .38…..So .38 really is 36, and should have been named so….Just in case anyone was wondering, it came to be known as .38 because of S&W naming it 38, referring to the dimension of the loaded case, not the actual bullet…..Anyway

Van Cleef does have metallic cartridges in his loops, BUT…I suppose you could say they were for a Henry rifle….A stretch, and not the same size or type of ammo, but at least there’s an excuse…..The real issue, is in the dramatic end scene, Angel eyes gun goes from having the percussion caps in place, to having them NOT in place, then back again like magic….

Thanks for the info and details, KAR. I've always been interested in obtaining replica's of Clint's Peacemaker from GBU, but have never really been 100% sure what it was exactly. Do you think you could point me in the right direction?
