Clay From Fiberglass Mold.

Hey all,

I finally molded my berzerker head and used fiberglass, which is my first time using it for molding.  The molding process went fairly smooth, but I'm having some trouble getting the final bits of clay from the mold.  I checked the internet and used suggestions like a pressure washer to dish soap in water than scrubbed with a brillo pad.  There are some tiny bits stuck around the mouth/teeth area and the  mandible area [where the teeth go].

Anybody have any suggestions?

There are some tiny holes that need to be filled, which I was going to use JB Weld Waterweld instead of applying fiberglass to it.  So, I couldn't try a a latex pull to get the rest of the clay out.

Chavant suggests de-solv-it citrus based spray.  While monster suggests Citrus Solve or mineral spirits.  I'd think any of those would work for most clays.  Not sure of the affect on fiberglass resin though.

The third picture illustrates the small holes in the mold that need to be repaired.  There aren't a lot of holes, only one on the top of the head and there is one in each of the mandible locations [some holes being a bit bigger, around .5 in].  I was thinking of placing two part epoxy putty to repair the mold holes. The mold, however, is pretty sound and I definitely like the weight of a fiberglass mold compared to a ultra cal mold.   The method alpha tech explained to me works really well once a good bit of the clay is pealed out and I even let some 99% alcohol dwell in the mold for a little while, which also helped.  I do have two different sculpts of the lower mandible ad included more traditional pred quill holes, just to make the alternate versions of the mask [Falconer and Tracker] a bit different

I did have a problem with the pva release agent, but I think that it due to the fact that I brushed the release agent on instead of using a airbrush.  This is why I placed aluminum foil over the mold wall as insurance, which I'm glad I did.

I have a new armature on its way and the next sculpt is a P1 based completely off of the Morris P1 bust, that I believe is traced back to the original mask?

The sculpt pic is a quick pic I took when I transformed the sculpt from closed mouth to partial open mouth.

I'm not sure why the pics are so large when you click on them.
