Well It’s not working for me how about you Funky ?Is that letter from their attorney designed to generate sympathy for them?
Folks without their cash and employees yep I agree with that.I'm sorry, but I have a hard time feeling bad for a company that just took me for $1500. The only people here that deserve pity are their customers and maybe some of their employees.
Good luck finding many companies that will have the capital upfront to fully fund products to have “in hand”, ready to sell, before ever accepting one cent from a customer. Most companies sadly wouldn’t get off the ground. It is easier when you are non licensed and illegally making stuff in your home studio, but not when you are paying tens of thousands just to get the license.Completely agree with Zombie Killer here. Preorders need to end... want to gauge interest ?.. post up an interest ad like Magic Wand did for the Star Trek TOS Tricorder. Or have it on hand then manage payments or just buy outright as its on hand.
I get that HOWEVER the preorder BS must stop !Good luck finding many companies that will have the capital upfront to fully fund products to have “in hand”, ready to sell, before ever accepting one cent from a customer. Good. If they cant find investors to fund the capital to get the business running then dont do it. Having investors to answer to all along the way is not a bad thing. It keeps them in line from people just spending customers money willy nilly with no one to answer to until they go out of business and the customer pays the price. They screw over the investors and good luck finding someone else to put up the money. We would stop seeing the same jackoffs starting companies, go out of business and then start another all over again under a new name . People just need to stop biting at preorders and force them to find other ways to get their business going. Most companies sadly wouldn’t get off the ground.
Pre-orders have been a thing for decades, and every company that has folded has horror stories.Out of curiousity, has this pre-order model been the norm with licensed prop companies since the beginning or did it just become the norm with the rise of things like Kickstarter?
I'm a huge newbie when it comes to the world of prop replica's, I haven't been around long enough to witness any specific trends, so I'm curious to hear if this has been going on for a while. Outside of prop replicas it definitely seems like crowd sourcing has become the go-to for a lot of companies.
Capital.Imho... if you don`t have running Capitol, then you shouldn`t be in that particular business.
Keep an eye out on the Junkyard and see if you can snag one of Rylo's one's. Buying one of those was the reason I first joined the RPF and it's still one of my most favourite pieces.Hello all! Super new member. I came here looking for some answers regarding Chronicle Collectibles, to see if others had received refunds, and if CC were going under.
Certainly looks that way now. Anyway, I can also confirm I received several refunds for the preorder I made for the Jurassic Park Cryo-Can. I was looking forward to that replica, oh well would be nice to attempt making it myself someday.
No, partial ly is a payment plan option and it has not always been available.I emailed Chronicle last month, asking for a refund of my Syd Mead Blaster order. They still have not replied.
About Partial.ly. I explained an update on the situation. This was their reply:
"Upon review, you did not open your Chronicle Collectible's order through Partial.ly. Unfortunately, we are unable to assist you."
I do not recall that creating an account with Partial.ly, and paying through them to Chronicle was ever a presented option. Was it written somewhere during checkout on Chronicle's site? But from what people are saying, when my card was deducted, Partial.ly was the service that did the actual deduction for Chronicle. Which means my money went through them anyway.
Going forward, what do you think is a reasonable or safe time to wait before asking for a cancellation and refund of a pre-order? One year?
It depends on how you purchased it. If via PayPal or a credit card they all have different dispute Time limits. I will refrain from preorders in the future. I am currently in my 2nd dispute in 60 days. The prop replicas hobby right now “sucks” with very few responsible companies remaining. That makes sense. I was on a 3-month payment plan. But now I assume Chronicle handled it directly for my order.
My order was 3 years ago. The upper time limit of initiating a dispute with a bank or card company seems to be 2 years or less.
