Child sized Jedi robe for my nephew.

My in-laws left for Disneyland (world?) in FL this morning.
Through his (geeky) uncle Richard, my nephew has aquired a love for Star Wars.. when he heard that disney was having their Star Wars days on the days of their visit, he wanted a costume.
I was going to have my in-laws buy the robe and let me make the rest, but they bought the kid a Rubies (YUCK!!) Anakin costume. Atrocious. The belt was big enough for ME!!!! and I have a 34" waist.
I altered the belt.. no hope for the rest of the costume :p

K.. so.. anyway, I wanted the kid to be able to hide the SHAME of wearing a rubies costume so, I made him a quick and dirty jedi robe.. It's made to fit him. its also unfinished, but as I work longish hours and was making this in my off time, it came out pretty nicely.
I don't have any pics of him wearing it... YET but I'll post those when I have them.
Here it is last night right before I took it to their house.

It's probably not 100% accurate but for a 6 year old, its close enough ;)

I bought a brown flannel material at Wal-Mart.. Its like 3 bucks a yard and I got 3 yards. I'd use probably twice that if I made one for myself but still, you can't beat $9.00 for a child's costume.
Well, that part of one anyway :p

Guess I'm on to the next project. I'm going to start work on a Mark VII bag for his Indy costume.. gonna make myself one while I'm at it ;)

Quick update... his Bag is almost finished.. I banged it out tonight and while its not 100% done its close enough to show.

I KNOW that it's not screen accurate and even when I've finished it, it won't be but it's close enough for me and definitely close enough for him

looking good. You gotta love kids costumes when they are hand made and accurate, not the likes of the rubies kit!
