Cheapest place for flintlock replicas?

Hey guys,

I'm looking to score a couple of pirate-style flintlock replicas with wooden stocks.

But my parameters are that they be as cheap $$$-wise as possible.

I know it's exactly the wrong time of year to be looking for something like that for cheap what with halloween coming up and all, but my intent is to scavenge them for their stocks to make something else.

In the end, they aint gonna be lookin' like no flintlocks. But the wood handle is kind-of a necessity.

Does anybody know of any online places that'd have something groovy for a low-low price?

Are you talking about pistols or rifles? If you were gonna keep 'em as flintlock pistols, there are the cheap plastic ones that can be painted up to look like wood and metal. Most Halloween places have 'em. I painted one up a few years ago for a pirate costume I did. Worked pretty well.

But it sounds like that won't quite do the trick for ya.

Try http://www.dixiegunworks.com

They sell hundreds, if not thousands of black powder kits and do sell pistol stocks seperately. If they still do a print catalog, BUY IT! It's as thick as a phone book and used to be under 10.00. They also used to have period clothing patterns and all kinds of other reenactor goodies! :)
